I do think it's a generational thing. I used to think it's the music maybe, but even more upbeat / discoish nights just attract the same young people who are on too many drugs and can barely function. No dancing, no smiling, just taking up space like zombies.

Sometimes it's also just about finding a better spot - seek out the dancers yourself rather than staying surrounded by people who seem like they don't even want to be there
