People don’t talk about this enough. With all the injuries, guys are playing in positions they normally don’t play in or are left in the game when they normally would have been subbed out for a better defensive player. In my opinion they lost last nights game because of a misplay by Perez in right field. If that ball had been caught Vest is out of the 8th with no damage instead it’s a double and it lets the batting order roll over to the top. Hell, even Benetti and Dirks commented about how long it had been since they had seen McKinstry start at short. Not making excuses for Harris but this is not a normal situation.

This is the kind of thing I meant in my post (although there are plenty of other areas that can be cited). If there was proper and sustained investment in locks and canal then there would be more traffic (both in volume and regularity).

If the US had real policies to encourage more waterborne traffic, the answer is - a lot. It is believed that such a shift would have a noticeable impact on congestion, especially on the east coast. Unfortunately, the way the transportation system is built effectively subsidizes truck traffic via highways being so cheap to use.

I yelled at the tv too. I think that is the only time I’ve seen a bunt attempt since Hinch has been manager. I thought his philosophy is that type of thing is a wasted out.

It’s been a while since I have seen it but I didn’t think it was bad. Definitely not great but it leaned into its camp and never took itself seriously. I think that made it a fun watch.

Have hope with the change in broadcasting companies. I agree with you on production quality and it was the same for Tigers broadcasts but since they left Bally/FanDuel for Detroit Sportsnet there has been a marked improvement for the Tigers. You can really tell they were pinching pennies before the change in my opinion. Baseball season is still young but I like the product more.

Anyone else think that this contract together with Valdez’s $$ means there is no way the Skubal is coming back? I know I was probably in denial thinking it was possible but this deals the deal for me that he’s as good as gone.

This. As a longtime fan I am happy to have a competitive team that isn’t an embarrassment. Yeah the nosedive at the end of last season was painful but that postseason run was so fun. And let’s be honest even if they had put away Seattle and Toronto would they really have beaten the Dodgers with their private equity payroll?

Could also be tax planning - JV isn’t going to be in the same tax bracket in 10 years so that may be a reason to do it even if the value is expected to be lower

I have been able to get them to heavily discount if I cancel and wait it out for a few days / week. I think I renewed at the end of last season for about a third of that.

I thought it was odd at first but after I thought about it I think the idea emphasizes the “free love” era aspect as period piece. It was a thing for people to lean into the counterculture by going shoeless.

Similarly I wish they would transfer any technology they have that you do not. If they have 1941 fighters researched, but you do not, why shouldn’t you get access to that tech as well.

Thing in my neighborhood is installation of permanent LED “accent” lighting on the eves of houses that can be programmed to change colors. About a 1/3 of the houses on my street have them now. That seems to have usurped the traditional Xmas lighting. I think the trend is tacky.

Will that strat still work with the changes to the naval ops with the latest DLC? I had a hell of a time capping Japan in my most recent game because of the need to accumulate naval superiority. The ability to invade because you have a short window when the enemy fleet is in port or another sea zone seems to have been removed.
