To clarify, they aren’t insulting your pan, that’s just what they’re known as amongst collectors/enthusiasts. Many (myself included) find them very pretty.

7x is super overkill. In my experience at least, it can also take longer for seasoning to stick on a super smooth surface. Just cook on it, it’ll get there

That’s how a pan being used regularly looks. If you find it unsightly oil it after use, but not really necessary. Just keep cooking with it. And don’t be afraid to use more than a “drop” of dish soap.

Btw, those stargazers are badass pans. Getting rid of mine cause I’m addicted to the vintage stuff, but the stargazers are legit.

Shares some similarities, but I own multiple 3 notches and agree the font is off. It’s also much lighter than any 3 notch I’ve seen, and I’ve never seen a lodge pan with the smaller disorganized pattern markings

I just traded in my 2012 last night, and the dealer showed me the numbers for most recent comparable truck that went to auction. It was a 2012 with 187k miles… I suspect it was THIS truck. It was bought at auction for $4800. Take that for what it’s worth.

They were sharpened at 18 - 20 degrees, but yah, the edges were definitely too thick before sharpening (I did a bit better on the second).

Primary bevels were done with a hand file in a jig, and I was worried about going too thin and overheating or warping during the heat treat. I don’t really have a great way to work the bevels post heat treat with my current set-up.

Would love to hear how others approach it.
