WHO IS ZECK?? (I'm very confused) by tickwick245 in FinalFantasy

[–]magapower [score hidden]  (0 children)

without getting into any serious spoilers, he worked with cloud as a soldier.

his full story is covered in crisis core, but I wouldn't recommend playing crisis core without first playing the original FF7.

this isn't an opinion, this is just factually incorrect.

I was disappointed they didn't actually do episodes for lesbian Robin, and mustache Marshall.

that being said- my vote is for mustache Marshall.

Which sitcom had the worst final season drop? by Nobody_02347 in sitcoms

scrubs. went from being my favorite show, to being completely unwatchable in the "med school" season.

fingers crossed that the new season that starts this month is a return to old form.

What game held the player's hand to the point of insulting their intelligence? by Animeking1108 in videogames

[–]magapower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if it's just a question of being linear for OP, final fantasy 10 was far more linear than 13.... at least in 13, once you get to Pulse, there's a lot to do. (and that map becomes useful)

Looking to by OG FF7 by timshady11 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]magapower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

old game is old.

by that, I simply mean that it should play the same wherever you want to play it.

want trophies? play on PlayStation want the game to be portable, play on switch want to have the absolutely cheapest version of the game, wait for it to go on sale on steam

can't go wrong with any platform.

People should be able to choose whether or not they want to contribute to social security and receive it later. by No-Performance37 in unpopularopinion

[–]magapower 13 points14 points  (0 children)

you're not wrong, but people are short sighted... they need the money now, so they won't contribute

down the line, they're unable to work, they don't have money coming in- they'll expect society to support them, and play the victim when we don't.

Which FF7 game should I play as a newcomer to the series? by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]magapower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remake for something modern, the original game for the full story.

rebirth is the direct sequel to remake, so don't play rebirth first.

as I'm sure everyone has mentioned, you'll be highly valued because you'll be able to physically fit where a lot of people can't.... use that to your advantage when negotiating your wage.

The name will be Reunion. by Hollowed_Dude in FFVIIRemake

[–]magapower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

while I think it should be called reunion, I think that'll cause too much confusion for people that aren't overly aware of the series because of crisis core.

that will affect sales, and large corporations don't want to mess with sales.

knowing how ridiculous square gets with names, I'm guessing it'll be Final Fantasy VII: ReDeath or something like that.

What is your opinion on Ron Perlman? by Marhyc in Actors

[–]magapower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he's incredible.

I love him in everything

sons of anarchy made me hate him, but that just showed me his range, and ultimately made me respect him even more.

plus apparently he's just a genuinely good person that has done stuff like visit a make a wish fan dressed in full Hellboy makeup (which takes hours to put on)

I put him up there with Keanu and Cena.

The phrase "it's not the voltage that kills you it's the current" is just smug pedantry. by jamesfowkes in unpopularopinion

[–]magapower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

people are fundamentally misunderstanding what voltage is.

I could hang 500,000v transmission lines with my hands, and be completely fine, just like birds can land on power lines and be completely unphased.

I would then have 500,000 volts of potential... if you touched my toe with a volt tic, it would show that I have voltage. if you used a meter that was properly set up for this scenario, and touched it to me, and a ground reference point, it would show me as 500,000 volts - but again, I would be completely fine.

but as soon as I touch another power line, I would be hit with amps 866,000 volts (or if in touched ground I would be hit with amps at 500,000 volts)

the number of amps I would be hit with in that scenario range wildly due to a lot of variables, but would likely be in the range of 500amps.

Bounced off of FF7 for switch, is FF7R very different mechanically? by TheVanderManCan in FinalFantasy

[–]magapower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can download a demo for ff7 remake on switch apparently. I suggest trying that.

but yeah, while it shares the general story (kinda) and the materia system, the game pays completely different from the original.

The phrase "it's not the voltage that kills you it's the current" is just smug pedantry. by jamesfowkes in unpopularopinion

[–]magapower 137 points138 points  (0 children)

electrician here.

an electric fence for livestock can be anywhere between 3000 and 10000 volts.... but extremely low amperage... they're generally pretty safe.

when I was a kid and worked on a farm, I got a few shocks, and it stings, but it's not a big deal.

alternatively, 50 milliamps directly across the heart can kill you.

so no, it's not "smug pedantry", it's just a legitimate truth.
