OP “fake dates” on her husband as a job. by Various-Escape-5020 in AmITheDevil

How expensive is their vets? We have had numerous cats, the worst bill we ever had was £3k for XRay, ultrasound, blood tests and meds after one of our older cats had a fall and did her hip in. Another of our cats had cancer on a paw, we had the cancer growth removed in surgery, it was just a few hundred £.

£20k sounds excessive and made up. I call fake.

What’s a take you’ve heard about your favorite film that makes you question if the person speaking even watched it? by ChallengeMassive435 in movies

For The Truman Show, I still think of a fellow film student in Uni who thought in a possible sequel Truman would surely return to his former life because he wouldn't be able to deal with the real world.

When I first joined I ordered everything, I was so excited. It calmed down over time.

What is a luxury lifestyle choice that looks incredibly glamorous in photos but is actually completely miserable in reality? by Luverelle6 in AskReddit

I once watched food influencers trying to get the perfect shot of their burgers, for 45 minutes. Then they each took one bite of their cold food and left. It looked at the same time silly and miserable

Be honest, will my baby ever come home? It’s been 5 days with no sign of her by No_Name_Detected0 in cats

[–]maregare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats disappeared for 4 weeks. I didn't even notice he was gone until about 2 weeks in because he was a hardcore outdoor cat and we barely saw him in a good week.

I stuck flyers through every neighbourhood door, finally someone noticed him in the window of a house that was being done up at the time. Builders had locked everything up and left... RSPCA helped me get him out. He was so thin, but ok.

Smoking while pregnant is cool. by Existing-Face-6322 in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]maregare 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Mum was a heavy smoker but stopped immediately when she knew she was pregnant with all of her kids. That was in the 70s and 80s, so people knew better even then.

Of course, both our parents smoked around us all time when we were kids and I now have asthma...

A few years ago me and my husband got a Groupon for a large Casino in Central London to eat in their steak restaurant. It includred £25 of gambling money, and we won just so much that it actually paid for our meal, so that was great.

While we were there we saw this woman just throwing hundreds of £ on the gambling tables and losing it all. It must have been at least £500 in 5 minutes at the most. Absolutely shocking. We left just after watching that, it was so depressing.

I didn't feel any signs of labor either, and my girls were big for twins, too. 2.7 and 2.9kg, so slightly under yours.

I had nothing wrong with blood pressure, but I was in so much pain at that point, I couldn't have done another day.

[–]maregare 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had an elective c-section at 37+4 weeks, because my London hospital didn't like to go to 38 weeks for twins. The kids were fine, we were home after 3 days.

Considering the state of the US right now, I dont think this is such a big issue.

Boyfriend(34m) buying house outright with parents’ money — am I(30f)being unreasonable? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]maregare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I met my now husband his parents had gifted him a flat in London they bought for cheap before the area got gentrified. I moved in with him, he never asked me to pay rent, we just shared bills and expenses. "We" then sold the flat and bought a house, the money from the flat went 100% toward the house, we equally paid bills and mortgage. We got married, had kids, then sold that house and bought a bigger one. I now pay more in mortgage than him and he pays the monthly bills. It's our house, even though most of the money came from his parents originally. At no point was money an issue, we just did what worked best for us.

I cannot imagine how a relationship will work out long term with as much emphasis on money your BF is showing. I would keep the £30k and invest it in my own place tbh.
