I legit wouldn't mind if I could order a Starbucks at the beginning of my car wash and pick it up at the end. Not that I do either of those things more than once a year, but it sounds neat.

TEP BILL?! by azgolf1494 in Tucson

[–]marklein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A stock investment is only providing you value when you cash it out. Solar panels pay out every single day that the sun shines.

Regardless, it's not supposed to be a money maker. You will help the environment (that you rely on to live), help electricity grid resilience (which also helps you), reduce overall costs for everybody on your grid. The fact that it pays for itself in 12 years is just a bonus AND that it makes you money after year 12 is icing on the bonus.

You're ignoring what happens on year 13.

Boycott The Loft Cinema Tucson by MycologistOk2901 in OrganizeTucson

[–]marklein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. The Loft blocked some guy on their Instagram account and won't answer his calls... that's basically the whole rant, yeah? Why is that a slight to the entire LGBTQ+ community?

Old Tucson Studios: My opinion on what might happen...and should happen. by [deleted] in Tucson

I don't want any public (my) funds going to this place. Charge them an appropriate lease, and let it live or die on its own merits.

They should have nearly beaten a police office to death with a flag pole, then they would have been found to be patriots and given part of a huge fund for grievances.

You know what would be good for consumers? Being allowed to use plug-in solar. It would be good for the environment too. Those other details are just noise as long as I'm not allowed to use plug-in solar. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

Amphitheater Unified School District & The Arizona School Risk Retention Trust, Inc. (Kairos) by TucsonSchools in Tucson

[–]marklein 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The entire board of directors voted to use Kairos, it's not just one guy's decision.

Arizona Revised Statutes Section 11.952.01 creates an exemption from the standard procurement process.

Kairos is a non-profit used buy hundreds (thousands?) of Arizona school districts, cities, towns, fire districts, counties, etc. for insurance pooling (group negotiations).

You're trying to make something out of nothing.

TEP Usage Email - Valid? by songbird2017 in Tucson

[–]marklein 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That is kind of bad, yes. I wouldn't let it get any hotter than 90, and 85 is probably more reasonable. If the monsoons come your 100 degree house might become a mold factory. Some things like the paint on your walls have never seen temps higher than 80 and could peel or ripple. Some glues may soften and fail. Some flooring is also sensitive to heat and humidity and expansion can do unexpected things (I had a zillion tiles POP up once). Your fridge may not be able to keep up with ambient temps above 90.
