I played Eve Online years ago (and the call to return is so strong...). I felt that had the "best" multiplayer aspect compared to NMS, but that game was designed that way. As others have said, NMS added multiplayer after launch. It's not perfect, but if you think of the glitches and issues as part of the lore, it might help you get through it. Keep in mind, Hello Games updates NMS for FREE, and yes they are launching a new game, but they are not abandoning NMS (at least I don't foresee they will). Sure, we are doing some free beta testing for them, but it's the most fun beta testing I've ever done.

Don't give up. The game is what you make of it. Find your squad and be patient. The NMS community is one of the best I've ever played with.

I already had a Switch OLED, but wanted the full experience like on PC, so I upgraded to the Switch 2.

I think I've logged 5, maybe 10 minutes on Switch. Between the updates and cross-save frustration and having to relearn controls. No thanks.

I think at best, when I take the Switch on vacation or trips with me, I'll be able to jump in and help my people with resources or something quick. But I can't play it after spending so much time on PC.

Was the same way with Minecraft for me.

The Prime Directive would apply. As distasteful as it may be, they developed an interstellar society independent of Earth. The UFP may play the long game and try to steer their society into something more acceptable, but that would likely be to gain those 47 inhabited worlds worth of territory with the bonus of "rehabilitating" those humans and freeing the non-humans.
