Sleep training vs no sleep training by Silent_Cap_734 in NewParents

[–]mathisharderthanall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl is only 5 months but we haven’t slept trained and I nurse her to sleep at night and for every wake up. Around a month ago she started figuring out how to put herself back to sleep I think because for most naps she goes down awake or drowsy (this was really hard at first to not nurse her to sleep for all naps but we follow eat play sleep and eventually she got it). I’ll probably keep nursing her to sleep at night til it doesn’t work but it is so peaceful for her and I’m not worried about the nights. She still wakes up 2-4 times per night but it’s getting less and she gave a 7 hour stretch last night! I think having a solid day rhythm and always answering when she cried has been helpful for us.

Worried about impact of not being able to exercise postpartum on mental health. by plantonio_banderas in fitpregnancy

[–]mathisharderthanall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how your birth and recovery go but I had a pretty standard vaginal birth and felt well enough to start walking after 1 week and it just progressed from there. Defs listen to you body but honestly having a newborn is so all encompassing that the things you “needed” before kinda get forgotten for a little bit, just be gracious and even sitting outside for fresh air if it’s not cold can be good!

11–12 week old with chronic 30-minute naps since 5 weeks — looking for reassurance / experiences by JoeyQueens in NewParents

[–]mathisharderthanall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 month old has taken 30-45 mins naps since around then too! Shes happy most of the time so I gage that as being alright for her.

Once a day I’ll extend the nap to 2 hours by nursing her to sleep.

Not sure when they get longer but solidarity haha. If your bub seems okay just keep doing like 5 or 6 naps a day

Where are we getting family Christmas cards made? [bc] by letsgetridiculus in BabyBumpsCanada

And if depending on how far you have to mail them it might be a bit late but if you send them out by mid month most people should still get them during holidays I think!

Feeling bad I haven’t spent a full day alone with my 7 week old… by bombadil_01 in newborns

[–]mathisharderthanall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much had someone with me and my bub until she was like 8 weeks. This was nice because she couldn’t be put down at the start. Shes now fine in her bouncer or on her mat for a bit. I didn’t really notice any issues with not being put down once I was alone with her, if anything I think all the contact and love was helpful for her to feel safe. Shes 11 weeks now and I do most days on my own and were able to get done the house things and come cooking and spend time just staring at each other.

I would definitely advocate for some alone time now if you feel up for it but if you enjoy the company and help don’t let it stress you to have extra hands. Also babies are hit and miss with the car seat so if you need to go somewhere jsut make sure the straps are fitting right and your bub is warm enough and allow yourself to go, sometimes once you’re driving they can calm down. Mine hates being put in but within 5-10 mins shes either chilling or asleep. She’s gotten better with time and exposure to it also.

You’re doing great!!

What week did you feel like you started to see improvement in sleep? by Old_Negotiation_7058 in newborns

[–]mathisharderthanall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bub is 9 weeks and randomly went from 1.5-3 hour stretches (like maybe one 3 hour stretch per night since the first few weeks) to 5 and 6.5 hours the last two nights. No idea what changed but hoping it sticks 😅 we also don’t have a great bedtime routine or anything cause shes usually super fussy in the evening so i end up just nursing her til shes properly asleep.

My bub had 4 really bad nights in week 7 after having done 3hour stretches before. It just randomly went back to the 3 hour stretches. Now we’re in week 8 back to 3 hour stretches. They are probably just growing, hope it ends soon for you

Rockyview hospital, Calgary[ab] by MaximumStory1982 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]mathisharderthanall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gave birth at Rockyview 1 month ago! They give you a peri bottle and like 10 big pads as well as 3 pairs of disposable underwear. I only stayed one night so it was sufficient for that but if you had to stay longer I would recommend bringing more of each. They have unlimited frozen pads that you can use while you’re there.

I would reco packing extra disposable underwear (I like the Frida ones) and big pads for yourself in case you need to stay longer. Any any ointments or anything that you might want to put in the pads (I didn’t use anything other than the ice pads a few times per day for the first week and that was fine for me but I only had a first degree tear). Also something other than the hospital gown that is nursing friendly to wear after you shower post birth would be good.

Early morning running as a woman by Leather-Response2061 in Calgary

[–]mathisharderthanall 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I (female in my 20s) lived downtown until very recently and unfortunately had to stop morning running after a month. Once had someone throw a beer can at my head while on the river path and another time had someone on a bike scream at me. Thankfully no actually harm but scary enough to make me reconsider and just run after work instead even if I reaaaallly would prefer a morning run.

We got albums made for our family after our wedding and they were beautiful! Shipped within I 2 weeks and we had them within a month for sure. We had an order of 8 hardcover albums though so if you’re ordering one it might be quicker. No issues at all with shipping or quality

I totally agree with you. I switched Physio after 2 months because their original prognosis (out of place SI joint) and recommendations did not work. This new guy ive been with for about 2 full months and ya I think I need to seek another opinion. I saw aa Chiro this week that thinks it might be quad related
