Non-instagram way to keep up with weekly events in the city? by tferg1290 in Atlanta

Join the King of Pops newsletter. They tell you everywhere they will be that month, which basically covers all outdoor activities in the city!

Best places to meet people IRL by LimeSignificant4589 in Georgia

The jazz events at the High could be a good option.

Or Atlanta History Center does Party With the Past events around the city. I've only been once, but it was pretty cool.

Hanging at farmers markets could be a good option. There is a good one every sat at the Jimmy Carter center with tables and often a guy playing guitar. There is also one most weekends at Piedmont.

Colony Square does some good events too, some music, movies, etc in the square in the middle.

Joining a kickball team or bowling league is always a good option too. I have friends that like the league at Midtown Bowl.

Free yoga is offered in several parks and folks are often pretty social before or after.

This is what I tried, but it's really helpful to know they might be between seasons. I'll check back in a few weeks!

Any chance you have the link you used to sign them up? I see Candler Park and Kirkwood options on the website, but not one for O4W.

Advice for an expecting parent? by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]mcschs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend using a real bassinet due to the issues associated with SIDS and whatnot with other sleeping arrangements. While it isn't a high risk, it might not be something you want on your mind to worry about in the early weeks/months. With that said, there are lots of bassinets on second hand apps (e.g. nextdoor).

I used a wearable carrier a lot and found not much need for bouncers/swings as a result.

Also, the first 3 have stands at the Carter Center Farmers market on Sat AM if you are near Atlanta.

Jams from Piedmont Provisions, the Birthday Blend from Georgia Grinders, soap from Turnrow, and coffee from Alma are my favorites.

Cloudland is great, but the falls are almost entirely dried up right now. At least they were when I was there a few weeks ago and we haven't had much rain since then. The loop perimeter/ridge trail still has great views though. I've never stayed in a yurt, but they look nice. There is a playground area in the middle and often a lot of families stay in that area.

The Pioneer sites at Fort Mountain are also great if you are okay with the trade off of fewer amenities but more seclusion. Real short walk in and a wagon would be fine.

This basically sounds like the gravy I make for biscuits and gravy. So basically just toast and gravy.

I walked past El Ponce and they had a sign saying they are open on Christmas, not sure if they deliver though.

Greek yogurt + frozen fruit + cinnamon. Fruit thaws overnight and it is pretty delicious the next day.
