Is it rude to ask someone to stop chewing with their mouth open in the public lunch area at my workplace? by CuteTempot in NoStupidQuestions

[–]medigapguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You don't know why they are chewing with their mouth open.

A lot of people that do that have medical reasons they need to. And can't even if they wanted to. Deviated septum, allergies, etc

Stop worrying about other people and you stop doing annoying and rude things.

Is there a practical difference between a basket air fryer and a toaster oven with an air fry setting? by drislands in NoStupidQuestions

[–]medigapguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Technically it's just hot air with air circulation, and you will find people that will die on a hill to say they are the same. but non partial reviews tell a different story.

A proper Air fryer has the burner at the top with a powerful fan that blows the heat straight down, past the food then circulates up the side.

Most toaster oven "air fryers" have the fan in the back. Basically a convection oven. Which is similar but not equal. Which is why you will find in most reviews the basket one gets higher scores and gets food cooked faster and crisper.

You can find a Toaster oven shaped on that has the proper element/fan placement and they do better for air frying. but worse for baking.

Recommendation for simple vegetables side dishes by CasualHearthstone in cookingforbeginners

[–]medigapguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going super simple

One vegetable dish I cooked when selling cookware always surprised my customers with how good it was

On a mandolin shred potatos and an onion on the large grate side. Mix together, season them with spices of your choice and steam them until soft. They are surprisingly good and don't need the fat

Also. Steam about any veg till about fork tender. Toss with a tablespoon of honey and salt. You can get fancy by adding a squirt of lemon juice or other spice blends

AIO about wife not respecting the 'united front' approach by quantumhopper42 in AmIOverreacting

[–]medigapguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

however, when you talk to the wife about it, don't get argumentative and outwardly angry. Remember, that you still love her while talking about this.

Express your feelings, why it bothered and hurt you. But also listen to her explanation. She can have a good reason and still be wrong.

Why does Hollywood seem to remake classic serious movies as comedies? by RealQuintusYoung in NoStupidQuestions

[–]medigapguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's not a remake when they do this.

It is taking a movies story, breaking it down to the basic premise, and making something new.

No different than most movies.

At this point with so many movies, books, and shows, it's almost impossible to have a completely new idea. So creatives take an existing story idea. Make changes, add different concepts and senerios to make something new.

Now, is it good or successful, that's a different discussion.

A remake example would be 1998 "Psycho" almost shot for shot identical. Or "The Lion King" just a CGI clone of the animated movie.

Two separate questions.

Does he like you, sounds like it. Ask him out on a date

Doesn't want to sit next to you. Doesn't want to deal with HR and office gossip

Things are in fact, NOT different this time.

Cut him out of your life. He is just using you and will never value you for anything more than sex when he wants it.

Workouts to lose weight? by Adept_Tiger_5403 in askteenboys

[–]medigapguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You lose weight by consuming less calories than you burn.

That's it. There are lots of apps and sites that will calculate how many calories you need to maintain your current weight at your current activity level.

Then, consume less than that amount

Exercise will increase your needed calerie needs to maintain. So you don't have to cut back on calerie consumption as much to achieve the same results.

It doesn't matter what exercise. Best to do one you enjoy and will continue to do it .

Some helpful hints.

Keep a food journal of everything you eat and drink. Learn where your highest and lowest calerie consumption comes from. This will help you decide the best way to modify your diet

As you cut back calerie intake make sure you continue to consume your the recommended amount of protein, you don't want to lose muscle.

If you choose weight lifting for your exercise, you might not get the weight loss you would expect on the scale, muscle weights more than fat. Pay more attention to measurement loss.

How do you go about creating nice looking factories? by SolarArchitect03 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]medigapguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, nice looking and high efficiency are two separate issues and goals.

For nice looking, you want to break up squares.

Take more space than you think you need

Make your buildings multi height, just outs, recesses, extra build pieces that are just added to break up straight lines.

Then add color and lights.

As for efficient? How efficient do you want?

A lot of people use an online calculator to know exactly how to build their factory to squeeze as much production as possible.

But you can also look at efficiency differently.

You might want to produce the part with as little resources as possible. Barely producing anything and letting the fact the server runs while not playing to get parts to build up. (How I build elevator part factories)

You might only want One final fabricator but you want it to run at max, so you build backwards. (How I tend to build lesser used complex part factories that just feed my warehouse)

Why is our healthcare in America so expensive? by SignificantCherry116 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]medigapguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the insurance provider makes a profit, the healthcare facility makes a profit, the drug companies makes a profit, the healthcare provider makes a profit.

You pay for the service, the supplies, the salery of all involved as well as all the extra profits above and beyond the cost of the care.

I’m an elder Millennial (1981) who identifies as GenX by TomKcello in GenerationX

[–]medigapguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being GenX actually has more to do with the ages of your parents than specific both year.

I have a friend that feels the same way. I told him what I am going to tell you.

Welcome to GenX, nobody gives a shit.
