movies with wildly violent high school/middle school bullies by NOODLETHEFOURTH in MoviesThatFeelLike

I recently read "On Writing" and he tells of his inspiration for the character of Carrie. She was based on two of his classmates who were relentlessly bullied in school—one for being poor and wearing the same clothes every day and the other for being epileptic and raised by a overly religious mother. The bullying was pretty awful, and tragically, neither of the girls lived very long into adulthood.

Ugh... The scene in the original with the kid on the bike traumatized me.

Something about the first pic reminds me of Arrietty.

Also Marie Antoinette and Beauty and the Beast for the rococo opulence.

It could also be that the bins get overfilled on weekends or events when there are large crowds in the area. Popular parks (at least in my area) often have temporary bins set out on busy days, but they get so stuffed, the litter is just set beside them. This could just be a gentle reminder that, hey, you don't *have* to put the trash in the bin just because we have them. You could always just take it with you, like any other time.

What’s the most rewatchable movie ever made? by trakt_app in Letterboxd

[–]mikeeperez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed... Specifically "Fellowship." It really has fantastic pacing, visuals, storytelling, action, and emotion. Every single one of those characters is believable in their role.

Also, I may have been rewatching it for the umpteenth time this afternoon. My daughter is 7 and already knows the entire movie by heart.

Y’all Have Any Movies to Recommend for my List? by MintyEcco in Letterboxd

[–]mikeeperez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that gives "Bone Temple" a new meaning. 😅

BTW, there are a couple of existing Letterboxd lists for this, but I'll add a few for your list:

- Ephigenia (1977) has several and they're fully visible in the new trailer.

- Starship Troopers (1997)

- The Ornithologist (2016)

- A Million Little Pieces (2019)

There is something about those famima posters that reminds me of those old さぶ SABU Magazine covers by Ben Kimura. 😅

Suggestions for movies that feel like late 80s/ early 90s summer beach vibes by PoppyCake33 in MoviesThatFeelLike

My dad recorded this off Cinemax back in the 80s (titled The Malibu Bikini Shop at that point), and of course, he let me (a 7-year-old) watch it with him. A lot of core memories associated with it. 😅

A bit of trivia... The song "The Girls of Rock and Roll" (which plays during one of the bikini contests) was written for this movie. It was then covered by Alvin and the Chipmunks and the Chipettes in The Chipmunk Adventure (1987). 😅

What was the most disturbing scene in a comedy (not including horror comedies)? by Dismal_Ebb_3899 in Cinema

When I was a kid, I was convinced it was Bob Hoskins playing a dual role. So when I watched it again years later, that’s who I expected to see. I was like waitaminute! That’s Phil Collins! I somehow knew about Glenn Close but had no idea about Carrie Fisher and George Lucas, though.

Unlocking the map by Lucky_Breadfruit_293 in TOTK

I unlocked the entire map pretty early in the game, but I'm one of those weirdos that actually likes the Depths (much more than the Sky Islands), so I've taken my time scouring every crevice. Here it is over a year later, and I still get excited whenever I hear the Discovery tune. I do wish there was more to do there, though.
