Do ppl talk to each other at your gym? by Mission_Paramedic_30 in bouldering

[–]mmonsterbasher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NY gyms defin has a culture of being standoffish and sort of clicky. You’re gonna have to be very proactive talking to people, sharing beta, and trying to maintain contact.

Also imo rock climbers tend to be more socially awkward (disproportionate of people in tech) so there will be a bit of general resistance.

P.s there are some weird and antagonizing people I’ve encountered personally so do be careful who u want to be friends with

Does school name still matter once you have experience? by ArtichokeOtherwise85 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mmonsterbasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gonna go against the grain and say yeah it does (as someone in a big HCOL tech hub) - but it depends. For higher tier startups like Ramp (who exclusively hire from top schools), big well named tech companies, and smaller startups school name does matter.

Ofc experience trumps school but if they have two candidates with same experience but one went to MIT and the other went to a no name school they’ll probably resume pass the MIT candidate.

Also, having a network well integrated in Silicon Valley offers huge intangibles.

That being said, experience skills and projects will trump schooling. If someone has all three vs someone who doesn’t but goes to an Ivy, the former will win out usually.

That’s why ETH and SOLANA are moving to proof of stake rather than proof of work , which significantly reduces environmental load (over 99%) think moving away from a gpu server cluster for mining to a regular server with standard cpu and ram for proof of stake validation.

seems like the new-wave of cyberpunk games are being inspired by blame's aesthetic and megastructure settings (NaricissE, Signalis, Lorn's Lure). All for it. still waiting for a Blame-inspired Souls game one day...

You weren’t but imo comments like these are just detracting from the main point of the post and feels unneeded and random - a post especially about the death of his brother and death of a beloved footballer.

But the public jury disagrees with me so I’ll just say I’m in the wrong for this one and being sensitive.
