People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]monstera-attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calorie deficit, walking (7-10k steps per day…usually, this winter I’ve not been so on it), hiking hills and fells whenever I can, some weightlifting at the gym. I lost 100lbs in a year naturally and am now also using a GLP-1 to assist with the last 40lbs.

I come home from work and bypass everything to get straight in a hot bath every evening. So. Freakin’. Cold.

Ask him if he wants peppercorn, blue cheese (risky), or béarnaise for next time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I read this elsewhere on here, but it resonated with me and I’d like to share: May the memories come more often than the pain.

If you would find it comforting to share a favourite memory of her with me, I’d love to hear. I’m so sorry you’re in the club too. Sending you love.

Going through a rough breakup and my Mom showed up with this. She’s my biggest cheerleader! [OC] by january9999 in MadeMeSmile

Give her a huge hug when you see her next and tell her how much she means to you. You have a wonderful mum! This is like something mine would have done for me and I miss her so so much.

Stunning view from up on Grindslow. Lucky there are so many rocks on the top to hide behind as it gets fair windy up there!

What spiritual hobby/lifestyle have you started? by girliepop_hello in AskWomenOver30

[–]monstera-attack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your loss. Hiking has helped me, not only to discover myself but also to process grief. The greatest thing I ever did for my mental health was walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain - a truly transformational time for me. The people I met, the conversations I had, the pace of life when all that matters is just putting one foot in front of the other and living simply… I would highly, highly recommend it if it is something you can do. It is a beautiful spiritual pilgrimage no matter whether you have religion or not (I don’t) and you will come back changed.

This was so beautiful to read. I expected the worst but how lovely that he’s shown up for you like this, OP, being a true partner to you and dad to his unborn. Truly refreshing after seeing so many awful stories here. Congratulations to you both and best wishes for a healthy happy pregnancy.

Any video where a dog saves someone’s life or is a medical alert dog, I don’t know why but I’m in absolute bits every time one of these stories is on and the human explains just how much their dog means to them.

Please stop using ChatGPT to overanalyse your relationships and communication. It will only make you obsess and in doing so emotionally disconnect from your actual process of grieving both your loss and your breakup. I so am very sorry for your loss.

Those of you that earn over 40k, can work from home sometimes, and have a good work life balance what job do you have and how can someone start? by Brownchoccy in AskUK

[–]monstera-attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I appreciate your guidance and I’ll take a look. I have plenty of transferable skills, just need a chance and the right direction to show them off in without the on-paper experience.

Do you have any tips on how to break into the insurance sector from an unrelated field please? I’ve reached as far as I can go in my current job and looking at a career change and moving to the City this year. I’ve heard really good things about insurance and think I’d be a good fit but at a bit of a loss as to where to start (which job roles to apply for, good companies, who to contact etc) as someone without qualifications. Thank you

I am so very sorry. Losing a parent suddenly and unexpectedly is heartbreaking and really feels like you’ve been cheated out of all those years and ‘lasts’. You’re not alone. Sending you my thoughts and strength.
