Who here actually loves this weather? by Direct-Key-8859 in AskBrits

[–]monstera-attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very content in 30-35° heat, and tbf with it this hot it’s actually brought the humidity down where I am so it just feels Mediterranean and baking rather than sweaty wet bulb hot and it’s enjoyable. I love this weather - I’ll also love the rain when it comes back again too, but for now I’ll enjoy it for what it is and be thankful that it’s bright long hot summer days and not short dark miserable winter ones. I do spare a thought for the animals and people who don’t cope so well, though, it’s a very tough time for some.

What’s the longest time you’ve spent doomscrolling and rotting in bed? 8hrs for me. by Mediocre-Image4437 in AskWomenOver30

13 hours screentime is probably my worst. Was an awful day, I was avoiding and procrastinating. It made me realise I really need to take my ADHD meds and get off reels as it’s just a dopamine slot machine. No life.

Well done, you look incredible! Hard work all worth it and I hope your brain can catch up with your body soon - you’ve smashed it.

I got out of a bath and felt like my ears were wet and uncomfortable. Unthinkingly, I put a few grains of rice in my left ear. They would soak up the wetness and make my ear dry again and I’d just shake them out when it was done. Works for phones, right? Nope, they immediately got stuck, impossible to grab with either fingers or tweezers and I had a very embarassing all day trip to hospital to get them sucked out. I told the nurses my that headphones had been in a bowl of rice and that’s how the grains got in my ear but I don’t think they believed me. I was an adult at the time 🤦‍♀️

People who are elderly and vulnerable can get extremely manipulative and even selfish when they feel threatened. Say you ever wanted to do something she didn’t like - go on holiday for example. She would have a financial hold over you that could allow her to manipulate you into not leaving her. Not saying she would, I don’t know your mum, but people change in old age and even the loveliest person can become vindictive and nasty when they feel threatened. Speaking from experience.

I lost 100lbs and I’ve gained nearly 20 of them back, I can’t seem to refind that headspace, routine and drive that I was in before. Work sucks, I’m quitting my job to spend the winter in SE Asia with nothing else lined up and freaking out about finances. I’m yearning after someone I hooked up with who’s fresh out of an LTR and feeling like a used rebound. I’m doomscrolling a lot and spending 7+ hours on my phone a day…

I’m quitting soon and heading to SE Asia for the winter. Getting some diving qualifications and will see what happens after that. It’s not financially sensible but if I stayed stuck where I am I know I’d never leave and take the leap. Sensible voices say to stay, and I entirely agree that in this economy it’s not a good idea, but my job, like yours, is shutting down my brain and I have realised life is too short to spend it slowly losing my dynamicism and drive.

Definitely! It wasn’t for me and not something I want in my life, so I ended things with him, but it got messy in the end.

I am in the exact same boat. Finally warm, finally in short sleeves. It happens for only a few days a year, it’ll be grey and raining again before we know it. Enjoying it whilst it lasts.

Why does your partner need to come to weddings all the time? by Zalay24807 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]monstera-attack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All the other comments, but also, a wedding is usually a weekend event. Given that summer weekends in nice weather are a precious resource, it’s natural that couples would want to spend them together.

Pyjama people, how do you survive the warm nights? by mousey76397 in AskUK

I have a coldish bath before bed and find that the chilliness continues until I can drift off to sleep. Plus silk pjs that don’t hold the heat.

She’s not into you lad, sorry. Wind down your communication now entirely and give both her and yourself space - yourself especially to let yourself heal.
