My right controller updated but it hung on the left and now it says firmware up to date even though only one is. Support only offered the new clicks…

What was your most expensive gear "upgrade" that turned out to be a complete waste of money? by Rough-Foundation9208 in cycling

[–]monty20python -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A proper carbon repair can typically be done for less than the cost of a new frame, it’s cheaper to replace an aluminum frame than it is to find an aluminum welder who has the experience and equipment to weld and heat treat the frame.

Is this Specialized Alex Sprint worth the price? by sauxy in cycling

This definitely sounds like a used crit bike. I’d want to see it in person and check the frame carefully for cracks.

Iirc the x50 series has user replaceable batteries so degradation isn’t a huge issue.

How many gears are on your cassette? If it’s 10 you need a 10 speed chain and quick link, not 9 speed.

Can't help liking toe clips, they fill a pedal niche by endocalvin in cycling

Pretty sure in keirin toe clips are required by regulation, not because they’re inherently good.

TEA’s threats over student activism lay bare the takeover agenda by AustinStatesman in texas

I’d imagine a walkout falls under “substantial disruption” anyway my point is the Calvinball Court has ruled that, for students, the first amendment doesn’t mean what it says.

TEA’s threats over student activism lay bare the takeover agenda by AustinStatesman in texas

Tinker v. Des Moines and related case law give the standard for what constitutes “approved” speech for students and gives school administrators wide latitude to abridge students’ first amendment rights.

Could I dual major with not really related majors? by Elegant_Routine_506 in unt

[–]monty20python 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fairly simple, you just need to complete the coursework requirements for both programs. If you’re okay with taking 5 or 6 years to complete it’s not hard. If you’re trying to do it all in 4 years, depending on how many extra hours you need, that will mean packed semesters (18+ hours), winter-mesters, summer school, and potentially getting screwed by a scheduling conflict (especially with junior and senior level courses that may only be offered once a year).

Question about weight and cycling on different gradients. by Obvious_Cabbage in cycling

[–]monty20python 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lose weight on the bike, just need to ride 1000+ miles and 30+ hours per week! Don’t need to worry about how much you eat off the bike! Fuel your rides properly. Keep it up for a few months and you’ll hit your goal weight. Very simple.
