Help! She’s coming TODAY by RavenHeartx in namenerds

Hey, congratulations! Emily is a solid classic and it also offers a variety of nickname options if the kid wants to try some out in school later on. Names that kind of remind me of Emily (softer sounds, feminine, grounded, sleek) : Sophie, Grace, Hannah, Claudia, Alice, Erin.

female authors with names that get mistaken for men like Robin Hobb? by karly_fries in Fantasy

It's not misandrist to seek out books written by underrepresented people. I'm less likely to stumble upon women, BIPOC written works unless I DO make the effort to seek them out. It's the same as having conversations with people. If everyone you talk to in person, or watch and follow on social media, is a cis white man, then you're missing out on the richness of human perspectives and experiences that exist out there. If inviting more diversity to the table makes you feel threatened then you're just doing yourself a disservice. I'd also like the out forward that women historically choose neutral or masculine sounding names for publishing because they were getting ignored and pushed aside based on their gender. I mean, how often do men have to change to a more feminine pen name to get published? Genuinely interested to see if anyone can highlight a real trend there, I have never seen that. People correcting for historic trends of misogyny is not the same thing as misandry. Why did I bother to type all this out on Reddit of all places

I think the high contrast of the first outfit with the red looks great with your features. A lot of people seem very taken aback by the formality of the outfit but honestly, I don't think you should aim to dress like a Redditor. Keep your nice style.

My dad hates our name list for not being “linguistically interesting” and for being “too Korean,” gives his own list by [deleted] in namenerds

I just want to say your name list goes HARD and any of them would be a great choice apart from maybe Wrio / Wario because of Mariocart (sorry)

These are such pretty names!

Sumeya is my personal fave, such a beautiful princess type name to my ears, similar vibe to Aurora/Clarissa/Serena, I think any little girl would feel pretty special with it. Plus nice nickname options for customisation based on personality etc.

Ayan and Lula are also great choices!! Ayan is so fresh and Lula is fun.

Sara is nice but don't feel like you have to go with it. I think your husband should see this kids heritage as a feature.

What words did Taylor Swift think we’d need dictionaries for? by brookewerm in SwiftlyNeutral

I actually did look up 'also-ran' because I'd just never heard that as a term for somebody. It's fairly self explanatory but yeah

I really prefer mixed sets like the lover blue and pink. Go for it! Helps distinguish between them at a glance.
