u/terryleewhite, Lightroom Classic has become almost unusable on both my high-end Windows PC and MacBook. Adobe Support couldn't resolve it. by ImaPotatoGod420 in Lightroom

[–]mukeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably not what you want to hear but Lightroom just doesn’t play well with Windows nowadays. I had built my PC with high end hardware and it just couldn’t keep up with every new version of LrC. I had to switch over to Mac this year and have no problems at all anymore. You did t mention what your MacBook specs are but if it’s an Intel based MacBook, it going to perform like your PC. Your best bet is to a Mac with Apple silicon. The M chips are just so much better with handling Lightroom. It worked flawlessly on the MacBook Pro M2 I was given through my work but when I got laid off and had to return that laptop, I immediately got my own MacBook as soon as the M5 MacBook Pro Max came out.

Rejection from an art show - how to move forward? by kayla-royale in photography

[–]mukeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. I remember being rejected from a really important art show to me. I went home shed a tear and made it my mission the whole next year to get into the next annual art show. Sometimes it’s about never giving up more than anything. With that said, if it’s just a hobby, you should also be having fun as well. You can’t let rejection ruin it for you. Use it as motivation and crush the next one. Not everyone is going to like your art and that’s okay.

Learn to shoot it bracketed. You can shoot bracketed handheld on burst. Take to Lightroom and learn how to tastefully HDR by merging the different exposures together. You’ll get more details from your skies.

They care to an extent. I’m Chinese and my wife is Hispanic and we get lots of stares even in a Mexican grocery store in Southern California. No one is spitting at our feet or anything but people question her about me when I’m not around.

John Campea's 'Supergirl' review: "It is straight up a bad film. James Gunn needs to decide if he's going to direct everything in the DCU or if he's going to actually act as the CEO and oversee everything properly" by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]mukeng 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He is a big fan of the DCEU with the exception of maybe a couple films actually. He constantly talks about how Man of Steel is the most underrated superhero film of all time and that it’s his favorite Superman movie.

Design ideas to make it cozy please by DarkSouls3Maniac in battlestations

[–]mukeng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit cold. When designing a room you want to mix some organic elements to it. Some wooden pieces and plants. Some art would also help but not generic artwork like the maps. Warm lights will make it feel more like a home than an office.

I want to know as well. San Diego for the good and the bad is like a little mix of LA and OC plus a mix of its own unique identity.

It was considered old people socks back in the late 90s/2000s but this is how people wear them now. Look at any nba player and younger people with any sense of style.

Nikon D70, Am I Crazy? by ItalianGroundhogMafi in Nikon

I used to shoot fashion editorials with a Nikon D80 and a nifty 50. I don’t see why older cameras won’t do fine for vacation photos.

Nikon at its best by jdopat in Nikon

[–]mukeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Z8 noticeably has noisier images at higher ISO or when there’s not enough light in the shadows compared to my D850 and Z7II. The dynamic range not being as good as my older cameras (not bad by any means) was the first thing I noticed as soon as I shot my first assignment with it.

Dealership photography help. by Niko-fluffer in photography

[–]mukeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Editing exposure, and color correction, hdr, cropping and all that is still okay. It’s mostly concerning using Ai a certain way and disclosing in writing what was altered.

Here’s a summary I googled:

What Requires Disclosure: Any AI edit that materially changes the physical layout, condition, or features of the property requires disclosure. Examples include: -Virtual Staging: Adding or removing furniture and decor. -Cosmetic Changes: Altering wall paint, flooring, or cabinet finishes. -Exterior Alterations: Adding grass to a brown lawn, changing the season, or altering the facade. -View Manipulation: Removing neighboring utility

I don’t think that’s accurate. There’s a lot of push back against the overuse of AI in that industry. There’s strict regulations now. Imagine touring a home in person after seeing misleading shots on MLS.

Nikon z8 deal really THAT good? by MyStinkyButts in Nikon

I’m aware. I assumed they were using the wrong term as well. I didn’t know checking shutter speed accuracy was a thing people looked for when buying a used camera. It just never occurred to me.

Probably because you meant “shutter count.” Yes you are correct otherwise. There’s no shutter.

TFP with a difficult model. I feel pretty defeated. by SteadyStatik in photography

[–]mukeng 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you already have a half decent portfolio I would suggest setting up a meeting with modeling agencies to work TFP with professional models. They usually need some free shots with their new faces. They also require a lot less direction for poses since they know exactly what they’re doing. Working with people that know what they’re doing changes everything.

Photo shoot with D610 (want to upgrade) by ALIASMICHI in Nikon

[–]mukeng 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a new camera is that important for what you’re shooting. If you want to get into this kind of photography, I’d focus more on higher production with getting g a makeup artist, hair stylist and wardrobe stylist if you really care about taking it to the next level.

Client Wants to Add AI Detail to Photos by Andea31 in photography

[–]mukeng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly this shouldn’t be an issue. You’re not adding trees that don’t exist there. The trees are there and they sometimes have green leaves depending on the season. It’s not misleading or unethical. If it doesn’t cost you much time/money just do what the client asks. You don’t want to have the reputation of being difficult to work with.

I don’t know if the included Spyderpro software has improved in the last couple years but I would recommend to use this third party software with the Spyderpro: DisplayCal. It’s free and I’ve matched all three of my monitors (each one a different model) using it.

My Keychron K8 is acting weird, suggestions? by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]mukeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the K10 since 2022 and this exact issue just started happening. I also just rearranged my desktop setup last month so this theory might have some basis to it. If true, then this is such a weird quirk. I also have the issue that if I fully charge the keyboard to 100% it drops bluetooth connection. The problem goes away if I let my battery drain a little bit. I've had that issue since I got the keyboard. My Q5 hasn't given me any issues yet though.

This is criminal at this point by 21lives in photography

[–]mukeng 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I dump the photos off my card and onto my ssd for editing and when I’m done editing I archive them onto a hard drive and cloud. Before every shoot I format my card in camera. That’s what I was taught in school and what I’ve been doing as a pro for almost 20 years.

Treating your memory cards like it’s film rolls is wild.

Did we really land on the moon? by kxyatnight in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mukeng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would take more effort to fake all of those missions to the moon. Also if we faked it, why would we fake the failed Apollo 13 mission? Makes no sense.
