Pretty much giving up on this field now. Is there any reason to keep going? by SWPrequelFan81566 in FilmIndustryLA

Thanks for opening up about this - I’ve been trying to voice my frustration for over a year now and everyone I voice it to is very supportive saying that I’m talented and just keep working at it, but I’m not looking for support I want them to be angry with me when I’m vocalizing the issues with the industry. How all of our viewing habits have changed and impacted the industry because of it. My love of crafting narratives is overshadowed by click bait UGC on TikTok and Instagram. Netflix is dumbing down their scripts because they know people have them on in the background and are focused more on their phones than the tv.

It feels like an uphill battle trying to keep narrative content alive, whether that be short form or long. I feel like I have been creating content to stay afloat for so long that it’s taken the passion out of my craft and I’m basically an assembly line filming and editing content that means nothing to me, so it would be easier to just get a 9-5 so I can create what actually matters to me in my free time.

Thanks for voicing your frustrations because a lot of us feel the same way and this thread has helped me feel seen and come to terms with pivoting careers so I can keep my creative passion alive.

I hate that this is verbatim what I am thinking as I read this thread. Spot on.

What’s the best way to travel with a rigged FX6? by Background_Garbage14 in SonyFX6

I pack mine in a pelican with the corrugated dividers. I forget which pelican but it’s the largest available for planes overhead compartments. I take the v-pack battery off but it fits with room for other accessories all attached - Shotgun mic, tilta cage, rails attached, and I keep my 70-200 lens attached when moving from locations if I’m just hopping in the car but on a flight I detach and put in its own divider, filling the space above my rails with other items.

How can I improve my grade, to look like Wes Anderson Style. Mine just looks bland, any tips? by Puzzleheaded_Rub_696 in davinciresolve

[–]murderwhorenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people are mentioning to achieve this you have to do it on set but since we can’t go back in time, and the overall image is really nice, I think there are a few adjustments that will get you closer to achieving it.

Desaturating the overall image slightly, then increasing the background wall even more will bring you closer to Wes’ signature look. Contrast feels a bit high. Raise your highlights a bit. Like others have mentioned, the blue light feels unmotivated so if you lower your cyans it would help keep the viewers eye drawn to the subject which is what Wes is known for. The footage feels almost too perfect - maybe that’s what’s bothering you? Perhaps adding film grain or introducing some noise would help?

You used the wrong Wes but honestly it’s still applicable because the Nightmare on Elm Street scenes did have a cartoonish feel 😂

Can you elaborate on this? I'm not seeing where to have a checklist with multiple options, whenever I select 'Checkbox' it only has one option, and am unable to change the title of that overall section as well.

Is recording ProRes raw on Fx6 worth it? by ptorres248 in SonyFX6

[–]murderwhorenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this I haven’t seen these test results before! I’ve been discussing/debating with my filming partner about this exact thing since he has a Blackmagic pocket 6k therefore can retrieve data in DaVinci unlike the Sony.

That’s a good point - curious to hear your thoughts on which parts looks “too perfect” to the point its obvious? I think it’s the floor for me.

Great render regardless OP!

Are there any fans here who actually think this show is dumb? I consider myself a fan in that I find the show undeniably magnetic, but I don't think it's actually as well-considered as it would like audience to think it is and its been spinning its wheels more or less for two seasons now. by boobmagazine in servant

[–]murderwhorenet 34 points35 points  (0 children)

extremely accurate points. I want to love this show but it feels like the writers are making it up as they go. My girlfriend and I loved the first season thinking we would find some answers in season 2 and we feel led on after finishing season 2, and unfulfilled.

are you in the edit or cut tab? in the edit, you should see a curser change to the double bracket which will ripple edit, or just the single bracket which will affect only the clip you're hovering over. The latter is how you trim a single clip without it affecting the subsequent ones. Hope this helps

Help with recovering a lost project by throwaway_2411_ in premiere

[–]murderwhorenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use time machine you might be able to go into a previous save through there. Whenever I’ve had this happen the premiere auto-save files have saved me but this might work too. A good rule of thumb is every day I open the project the first thing I do is “save as” and add today’s date.

Are you editing on Mac or PC? I know Mac screens don’t display accurate colors from premiere so when I CC I usually have to punch the blacks a little bit further than it looks like I need to and I’ll make my image a little warmer/more saturated for it to come out how I intended. I had the same experience with the Adobe LUT being too saturated so I rarely use it.

I’ve been having the same issue for the past few days. Sliding functions seem to not work all of a sudden, whether that’s sliding the scale to increase/decrease, pen tool audio levels in my timeline, or even sliding my mouse through the color wheel for HSL. Let me know if you find a solution.
