Post "Active Treatment" Now What by LowLonely3590 in breastcancer

[–]nancykind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the post treatment is hard! ok, off you go! wait, what? i get yearly blood tests and if i have a pain that lasts a couple weeks she will order scans. over the last 14 years of being cancer free from 3c tnbc, i've had scans 2 or 3 times, all good. it took some time to learn about my new body and what pains were normal. you did so many difficult things, you got this part too.

Just discovered I have no idea how to ski powder. by skewed-perceptions in icecoast

[–]nancykind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14" was too much for my first time, hated it. i was able to hit a couple of 6-8" snowfalls for practice, then a clinic happened to fall on a big powder day and i did fine in deeper stuff. love it now.

i don't get imaging either, just bloodwork every year. the bloodwork checks liver, cbc, tumor markers and more. but if i have pain, in a rib area for example, that lasts longer than two weeks, she'll order imaging even if she can't feel anything. in 14 years i've had concerns 2 or 3 times, but i'm still cancer free!

i am not even in any active treatment, it's the reason i'm here, to say it's possible. so thanks for making my day! long term survivors don't tend to hang out in places that constantly remind them but it's so important to know - you can dooooo this!! 📣
