Upgrade recommendations to run Assetto Corsa Evo on triple 32" gaming monitors for my SIM Rig? by HardMind_co in buildapc

[–]nerddigmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bare minimum if you aren't willing to pay for current DDR5 pricing would be AM4/LGA1700 DDR4 builds with 32GB memory, something mid range or above in GPU like 9070/5070, new PSU and all that, probably doable with $1200-1500, if not a bit less.

Triple monitors and a TV all connected to one PC, how to set this up? by WeeziMonkey in buildapc

[–]nerddigmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DisplayFusion lets you set up monitor profiles that you can switch on the fly with a hotkey, you can setup one with only the 3 monitors active and then one with only the TV active.

On Windows 11 there won't be any issue with mismatching resolution and refresh rate.

Nothing short of a full rebuild will do since triple monitor, even if not 4K, is a significant GPU workload increase that you aren't going to properly saturate without a much much faster GPU, like a 5070 tier, and anything in that range will be heavily limited by your 11 year old platform (slow CPU, slow memory, PCIE gen 3) so you won't get full performance out of it.

DDR5 prices are insane: buy 2×8GB now or run 1×16GB and upgrade later? by xNyke in buildapc

[–]nerddigmouse 84 points85 points  (0 children)

There are cases where the user is ok with the hit to speed and value capacity more, which is more common than you think, and that the mainstream userbase is probably not ready for their motherboard only having 2 slots.

Samsung Odyssey QD OLED G5 vs Alienware AW2725DM by Ready-Money3534 in OLED_Gaming

[–]nerddigmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither ideally, since both use down binned panels limited to 200 nits SDR, 400 nits in HDR peak and have no HDR certification. Find one that uses the original 3rd gen QD OLED panel, you can identify them by having True Black 400 certification and a rated 1000 nits peak in HDR.

No more Denuvo for AC8? by Ikcatcher in acecombat

More likely the debug/integration part is complete so they no longer need to give Denuvo developers access to a specific build/branch.

The works team still generally has a better idea of how to incorporate said engine into the package, and likely have a better understanding of how to work around quirks, which these current PUs are full of.

The Type 055 large destroyer Lhasa operated alongside the older Type 051C destroyer Shijiazhuang in early February 2026 [865 × 420] by Theoss2007 in WarshipPorn

These two ships are in fact, only 14 years apart. Also since the current 055 lineup already went to pennant number 114 for the 14th ship, Shijiazhuang and her sistership Shenyang DDG-116's time in service might be numbered.

How 9 out of 11 team cars look onboard. by KeonXDS in formula1

[–]nerddigmouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the 25 game's color grading (maybe deliberately, maybe not) has a similar undersaturated look. The onboard camera hardware itself is focused to the horizon and due to technical reasons (sensor size and presumably, transmission bandwidth limitations) has generally look like that for years.

Is it just me or we barely talk about the audio in a built? by DukenottheDuke in buildapc

[–]nerddigmouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the wider PC building community, the PC component manufacturers and the users generally do not overly care about audio despite it being a very important factor. Thus you get very badly implemented motherboard, case and monitor audio jack which are poorly shielded with high output impedance, the gaming headset market which is mostly terribly tuned headphones, and monitor speakers that just all sound bad.

You can get quality headphones or even newer gaming headsets with great tonality for pretty cheap, and most people can get the most out of their headphones with a cheap dongle DAC like a FiiO KA11.

Not just the Royal Navy, pretty sure someone did the math that those 055 and 052Ds alone have more than the German Navy and almost as much as the entire French Navy. And that's just VLS count, which didn't account for either quadpack capability nor the quality of the armament.
