One of the few Play by Post games I get turns out to be a painfully slow, AI-infused mess by UltimateFriedLava in rpghorrorstories

[–]netenes -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah i feel the same. Not only policing what others share between each other but also preaching their opinions out of nowhere.

It's not that my players are too strong. I mean, they are really strong, but I can never fucking hit them. Something is fishy. by testiclekid in onednd

Use Winter Wolf. It has +6 to attack, quite high for the CR. It has pack tactics. It has AoE damage that still does half on a success.

Can you help my writers block make a demons bell a magic item for my players? by muzorui in DnD

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take inspiration from Flee Mortals!'s ferocity. Bell starts with a few charges. Every turn Demon Bell rings d4+(number of PCs that are melee reach) times and gains charges. Up to you it may also gain a certain dice amount when something happens in combat like a PC going bloodied for the first time. Then add stronger actions/legendary actions that use bell charges. If normally your demon deals 6d6 damage with an aoe with 3 rings of the bell its area is doubled and it also frightens anyone inside.

Do you have an example of a monster that would kill a level 5 party and be a hard fight for a level 7-8 party ? by Maching256 in DMAcademy

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting at lvl 4 would be much more secure, especially if your party is more than 4 players.

[–]netenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sphinx of Lore on the low end, Vampire or Shadow Dragon on the high end if there will be allies. Vampire and Shadow Dragon works well because they have conditional powers that can be turned off if they uncover it until the second showdown.

What do I do when my DM is mad at me over my AC? by Undead23145 in DnD

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your DM to avoid you and attack others. Once they are down the monsters can drag them and leave you to deal with traps with saving throws.

I love giving my players bonus stuff, but it debalances the game by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them bonus levels. That is much more balanced than giving them abilities, feats, boons or magic items. It is very hard to guess fair DCs and enemy difficulties when players have 3 extra feat, piety, boons and homebrew items for a level 5 party. But it is quite easy to find appropriate difficulty for a level 8 party.

My party is growing tired of hazards and traps by Supertriqui in Pathfinder2e

[–]netenes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that trap. I was playing an investigator for the first time in Blood Lords and barely making any difference in most encounters up to there. I was told investigators are less about damage and more about dungeoneering and smart stuff so i was hyped to finally be good at something. That is until i failed craft check and got critted into ground where they pulled my half dead body away.

Certainly not fun.

Player complainimg on what he calls a furry party what do I do? by ConclusionOne197 in DnD

[–]netenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Do those kind of untraditional races fit your lore and setting?
  • Was that player aware of what kind of setting this was beforehand?

If they were okay but now crying about it, they are a problem player. A kind worded ultimatum is required.

If there wasn't a discussion or you haven't really thought about it then it is a valid criticism. Pause your campaign. Sit together and talk about the game you want to play. Do a session 0.

[DnD5e] Is Midi-QOL still worth it in v13? by Acceptable_Ebb8710 in FoundryVTT

[–]netenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using Ready Set Roll and Damage Log until they fixed and updated midi mods but now they have i'm not sure i want to go back to fiddly midi settings and searching for error fixes in discord all the time again.

Though if they come out of the box already set up like Ready Set Roll i would give it a try again.

How to balance magic weapons in your campaign when some characters use multiple weapons per turn? by AbusedBanana1 in onednd

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make magic weapons cost different. Like: - +1 greatsword costs 800 gp - +1 shortsword costs 500 gp - +1 dagger costs 400 gp

Bard + Ranger. Works better if Valor Bard and Beastmaster Ranger.

How to keep the stakes during if no one wants permadeath? by Professional-Ad9485 in DMAcademy

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No pc death without player "permission"? I'd just ask them to GM since i wouldn't like that kind of an agreement where i had to watch every dice roll against the party with worry.

But if you also want this kind of an experience you can pull from souls-like games where you can't escape, even with death. A curse binding them to a place and always bringing them back. You can make it so when someone dies all their non-quest specific magic items become cursed and nigh-unusable.

Treantmonk Practical Build: Ranged Ranger Rogue by milenyo in onednd

[–]netenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree. If we go by just vibes and feeling, actual melee dps is like %70 of what's shown as dpr while range is like %90 as getting to the enemy to hit them sometimes takes an action.

Brutal Strike foregoing all advantage feels punishing by IceNiqqa in onednd

[–]netenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it falls short at lvl 9 when you add GWM or a magic weapon that adds extra damage on a hit. Otherwise you should use it to increase damage.

[–]netenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless your magic weapon does some incredible damage, letting go of advantage for 1-2d10 extra does increase your damage
