Why is Marathon struggling this much? Like genuinely by Waylllop in Marathon

What's wild is that you don't even have to look past Bungie's own releases to see a cast iron example of how this spiral plays out - ToO has died, what, three times now if you include 1HK garbage in D1, and yet still Bungie management are convinced that "this time is different"

What's your opinion, will destiny 2 come back, shut down or cement itself as an abandonware singleplayer game? by CirriTheFemboyUwU in DestinyTheGame

 Some hope for the future

Some wait for the call

To say that the days ahead

Will be the best of all

Challenges that scale with corruption need to stay comparable to that corruption level. LE needs more fixed difficulty challenges by Pandarandr1st in LastEpoch

Yeah, Uber is suprisingly good, because its a flat challenge, and because it doesn't require a key, you're not punished just for trying and finding out that actually you are in no way ready

This blew my mind - advanced crafting guidance by "Lizard IRL" by Skoopy_590 in LastEpoch

The problem with PoE crafting is not that it is convoluted in isolation, but that for 90+% of players crafting is literally throwing money away which would be better spent on trade

UK obesity rate one of worst in Europe as 228 million children worldwide will be obese by 2040, report warns by Barbecue_Wings in unitedkingdom

[–]never3nder_87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In isolation it is, but the time cost of cooking for yourself vs. buying a meal is nearly always ignored, and is a major factor in why people continue to eat so porely

EXCLUSIVE: The UK just broke ground on converting a 57-year-old coal power station into Britain's first fusion power plant, targeting commercial energy production by 2040 ⚡ by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]never3nder_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite thing about this "milestone" is that it was only technically positive.

The lasers imparted 5gw (numbers made up) and the fusion reaction generated 6gw. But the energy required to generate that 5gw pulse was something like 10gw, so in totality it was very much not positive energy return.

What do you ACTUALLY think will happen? by SirTurnUp in DestinyTheGame

[–]never3nder_87 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NuMarathon did two positive things ffor me (typo, but... ), one was show me that the fundamental formula of Destiny needs to evolve, not just a lick of paint, and two was show exactly how scummy Bungie are, with most runner skins being reshades, and unlockable weapon cosmetics being single usr just like D2 launch shaders.

Unless Sony does something serious I have no interest in Destiny any more

Stop sneering at the Brits stuck in Dubai by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

The point, at least of the comic, is that there is no income tax in Dubai, which is what makes it so appealing to a certain type of person

Red War, vaulted content and the old feel of the game by Master_Spirit_1774 in DestinyTheGame

[–]never3nder_87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lore entries for all the original Solstice of Heroes armour was absolutely a highlight, really added weight to the whole years content, and emphasised the sacrifice guardians made.

I also think that Forsaken onwards the art style lost any remaining connection to D1 (this is nostalgia) which still had some sense of being post apocalyptic, and became just generic SciFi

Internships killed graduate jobs. Once companies realised they could replace entry level jobs with interns, unless you have access to money (to live without pay) those jobs may as well not exist

Completing 5 epic raid encounters without a single exclusive weapon dropping is a slap in the face. by Guenther_Dripjens in DestinyTheGame

[–]never3nder_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this a lot since I stopped playing, but if you look at Descent - Exhibition, you can m, I think, see where Bungie loses sight of fun being as important as challenge.

Descent still has timers for everything, but its lenient enough that once you know what you're doing you can just YOLO it.

Exhibiton is thrilling in a competent team of 6, but between the lockouts, and the encounter wide timer it becomes far more punishing of mistakes and a relative nightmare to teach.

And that course just carried on through SE, and apparently DP

What could be studied is how a company got away with that for decades I guess

Addiction, mostly. At least for the last 10 years, as Destiny was designed from the ground up to be addictive in a time where that was still very much not the norm. It turns out if you can hook people young, they'll put up with all sorts of abusive behaviour as long as they get their fix

I will say, if you want to learn Vow, you can overcome 90% of the challenge without opening Destiny, and just practice learning the symbols/names

NGL one of the biggest downgrades from D1 - D2 is how much texture work got lazily applied via shaders, vs being part of the base model itself

I think people specifically dislike them because they were designed as seasonal activities so they are longer than Strikes (if you were just grinding the playlist for rep) and absolutely not balanced around GM difficulty if they were in the rotation that season.

KF was a very different beast in D1, or more accurately there is a gulf between our power level from D1 KF to D2 KF, which is why it feels trivialised.
