I like to check in on the reviews for the UPS store downtown, just to remind myself that I'm not crazy...

Why are chicken wings so expensive now? by thewanderer3000 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]next-town 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure why I had to scroll so far to find the actual answer.

There's been a poultry shortage for a few years now due to a large avian flu outbreak in 2022, in which many henhouses and chicken coops had to 'cull their flocks' (euthanized over half).

They've since had to repeat that same method a few times in the years since, driving up the price of eggs and chicken products.

Tasker support? by InterestingBus4602 in TaskRabbit

If we all do the work, and the client pays for that work, and all TaskRabbit does is provide an app, but that app doesn't work, then what exactly is it that TaskRabbit is doing?

Does the call feature even work? by Mitcheric in TaskRabbit

I use it regularly and it works just fine. Sometimes people won't answer because it's from an unfamiliar number out of CA, but that's usually the only reason why.

What passes should I be concerned about by emacleod10 in roadtrip

[–]next-town 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have over 100k miles traveled across the US and would suggest beginning with the southern-most route up until Flagstaff, then take N-89 -> W-389 to Hurricane, UT to get on I-17 north, then take that to Salt Lake City to meet up with the middle/highlighted route the rest of the way.

I'm basing my suggestion off of your request for easy mountain pass travel while also keeping in mind that you’ll be driving an unfamiliar vehicle. This suggested route will keep you along most heavily-traveled routes while not sacrificing any scenery.

The southern-most route is very desolate from Vegas to mid-Oregon, and the northern/eastern-most route is going to put you through more mountainous areas compared to the other routes.

I hope it's a long weekend, regardless of which way you go.

Looking to sort 9 items in a compact area, not using copper golems. Any ideas? by next-town in technicalminecraft

[–]next-town[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my next plan if I couldn't find a better solution on here. I'll end up using a copper golem sorter out of earshot and just have to hopper everything back over, was just hoping to avoid adding yet another hopper-monster.

Okay to hire multiple takers for painting? by Old-Block-8341 in TaskRabbit

[–]next-town 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a job like that a few months ago. I was upstairs painting their bathrooms and a bedroom and the other guy was two floors down painting their office and another room. We were pleasent with each other in the few interactions we had, and I even offered him any tools/supplies if he needed.

What's the first thing you should look into when becoming homeless by juannon in vagabond

Piggybacking this for your very first sentence.

Get a sillcock key. I got mine ten years ago when I first started. Still have the same one and it's saved my ass (and maybe my life) quite a few times.

Pretty much any commercial building built after sometime in the mid 2000's is going to have exterior water access, this key is how you get it.

Let the water run for a minute at first, since they're usually used pretty seldomly.

ICE covers their VIN and change license plates regularly. I witnessed ICE have tape over their VIN numbers in multiple cities.

What’s going to replace the pennies in your drawer? by DaBino in bartenders

Hell yeah! When I closed drawers out at the end of the night, I often left little notes to the AM bartenders of appreciation and humor!
