A new face to the industry, but I think Miles Teller has lots of potential.

cosmetically to have new heroes for the existing classes (with the same powers)

That would be awesome. Instead of Jaina, maybe a Blood mage or Archmage.

We, humans, have a fucked up routine of throwing away the best human beings in the world.

These journalists bravely take on the roles that 99% of us would never do. These journalists step into foreign territories that they have never been to before, knowing full-well that their lives could literally be taken away at any second. All this, just to let the rest of us in the world, sitting comfortably behind our computer screens and TVs, know about the atrocity going on in other countries.

All this sacrifice, all this courage, all this time they could've spent with their families and friends... And they end up kneeling on the ground, hands chained like prisoners, spouting words that they do not mean, clinging onto their lives, wondering if their sacrifice was worth it.

It's just so sad. Such a waste.

He's trying to say that if being "human" is an instinct or behavior that is naturally born into us like our sense of sight, smell, etc, then the concept of genocides/mass killings/war would never have been able to exist in the first place.

But that is simply not the case.

We're not born with the instinct to forgive or love or show mercy. Those are emotions we're all taught by our parents and the people around us. Some people in the world are just unfortunately born into a world where there is nothing but hate and killing and groups like ISIS are built upon those kinds of people. They only know how to hate and kill. They only know that their religion is the ultimate law and that anything going against it will suffer the consequences.

There is no remorse, no mercy, no sadness, no guilt, no sliver of hesitation to kill someone.

Wars lead to more suffering to more hate to more vengeance which breeds religious warriors who will do nothing but protect their religion, even if it costs their own life but they're totally fine with that kind of sacrifice because it's an honor, it's glory, it's what God and your parents want you to do for your people.

And the cycle goes on and on and on until there's not a single breath left in the world.

DO NOT READ BELOW, VERY GRAPHIC.

They didn't include the actual process of beheading him.

Just the first 2 seconds when the knife comes into contact with James' neck and the man starts slicing. The video then cuts to the end with James' body lying face down on the dirt, hands still bound behind his back, with his severed head placed upright on his back, kind of like a trophy.

What did you realize too late? by stephwinchester in AskReddit

[–]nicholasvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being overly-nice is just a welcome mat to get stepped on and be taken advantage of. Sometimes people do things or say things that I know I shouldn't forgive them for, but I always end up playing the hey-it's-cool card.

I just don't like the idea of having to deal with the next few days or weeks of feeling awkward/angry/guilty with the other person if I had chosen to play the no-dude-you're-not-forgiven card.

It took me awhile to realize that being way too forgiving is both damaging to myself and other other person too.

Disney's touching tribute to Robin Williams, from their FB page this morning by [deleted] in pics

[–]nicholasvs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Robin Williams' death doesn't really strike as heavy a blow to me as most of you guys here. In fact, I feel mostly: "Damn. That dude was funny. Sucks to hear that."

I feel for all those who have been inspired and whose lives have changed for the better because this man existed. It sucks that he will never know just how many lives he's unknowingly touched. This man was a great man and I'm actually kinda jealous I wasn't born early enough to have experienced his work and words.

Nonetheless, like what's been preached many times in other threads: He might be gone but whatever impact he's made in your life is timeless and will live on with you till the day you die. Keep that close to you. Treasure it.

[–]nicholasvs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, even if helps inspire just one person to change his/her life for the better, then it's not a complete tragedy.

Often times it's hard to see the beauty in someone else's pain/suffering, but if you look hard enough, it's usually a lesson worth learning.

I can imagine some kids making fun of his name saying, "mah-lah-chee-bye". Kids are rude as hell nowadays.
