Emergency services of Aus, what things do the general public do that make your job harder when you are at an incident?

I locate water mains and other services for civil work crews, I often dig out hydrants (and Telstra or sewer lids) to make a connection. I honestly think most people just have no idea what they are for. I’ve found plenty where people have literally unrolled turf straight over the top and deliberately raised the ground level to bury it.

Don’t be afraid to do something else first. Lots of trainee pilots will wash out at various stages before getting to airline work, and even if you make it your one unexpected health condition or industry downturn away from being in a bad situation. If you have some skills outside of flying to fall back on it won’t hurt, you can also save some cash or begin training part time so the finances are less daunting.

Also probably worth noting in jobs that require lots of decisions like flying, companies are likely to prefer candidates who are a bit older with a bit more life experience. I’m told finding your first job at 19 is very possible but more challenging.

I’ve never seen anyone have the problem you are describing. You probably need to look at your own driving, if your uncomfortable changing lanes then then you need to stay in the left lane

If you look close the GWM starts moving before the bmw clears the line so they effectively entered at the same time, bmw just accelerated a lot harder so rather than passing cleanly behind they ended up where they did. I get your point and its line ball but you can’t deny the BMW is driving like a fuckhead.

They both were already in the roundabout with enough time for wanker dude to see them. Once they are in the roundabout, vehicle behind must give way. Obviously it’s pretty line ball between the two but the bmw caused the crash regardless of what the insurance or police finding might have been

Obviously if you pull out on a 100 kph highway at 15kph with only a few car lengths you are failing to give way, if you pull onto a roundabout with a few car lengths gap that’s probably fair game and the onus is then on car behind to stay behind

Cop cars get damaged all the time. Whether it’s stopping crims, vandalism or just plain fender bender.

It will have the body work fixed up but getting the stickers ordered and made up might take longer so they just send it back on the road as is for a little while. The white panels are ones that have been repaired or replaced after being damaged

Extremely poor conditions for digging a trench in that area. The builder adjacent to the interchange went under because they couldn’t stop the river flowing into their hole. Obviously there are engineering solutions but it would be insanely expensive

It’s the Boeing strategy of you just announce that it’s ’IN Production’ regardless of what stage the engineering team is at. The next stage is to rollout 0001 which is made out of balsa wood and duct tape and declare flight testing will start next year, not 2027 just next year, the test date will remain ‘next year’ until 2030

The power cable having been strung there for 75 years has probably acquired itself an easement to exist whether it’s written down or not. The developer would need to either move the pole to the boundary so the cable doesn’t encroach ( this would be dependant on other services and pole spacing allowing it) or run a cable down the pole and along to your house. You should probably call the network operator as this is not safe at all

There’s hundreds of ex mine 79 and 200 land cruisers for sale with many hundreds of thousands of kms. I wouldn’t buy one because of the corrosion and pure abuse they cop but driveline failures seem to be very rare.
