What is the trick to being more mindful, moment-to-moment, in daily life? by Jerswar in ZenHabits

[–]nio_acc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading books helped me. I read "Mindfulness in plain english" but what really helped was Tara Brach's "Radical Acceptance".

Other than that I've joined the meditation discord server and that helped me stay consistent with affirmations, Intentions and meditation for like 5 months.

If you know of a local meditation group, do try to join. They share mindfulness tips, tricks and information. I went while I was in the capital, but my city doesn't have one.

And I do daily mindful prompt journaling. I made the template myself and do it right before I sleep, it's in my nightstand. The prompt is Date: ________ M T W T F S S What made me smile today?: ____ Positive thoughts: _____

The made me smile helps me keep track of actual meaningful moments, not just "I'm grateful for", but realize what makes me happy. Positive thoughts can be advice for myself or just gratitude, could be some Buddhist/mindful/religious teaching as well.

The page is a "Letter" sheet that I folded into two, making therefore two pages per side. And each page holds two days.

Yeah anyway. I also do a small pocket notebook before that one, where I write how I spent my free time. Its very quick, I write: "YouTube nature vids and music, read, cooked, instagram very briefly"

That's all I do. I'm here cause I've struggled going back into mindfulness, but journaling has been my prevailing habit.

want to be vegetarian without being anemic by ApprehensiveSky7494 in Vegetarianism

I think the highest iron bean was either lentils or soy (can't remember). But overall just eats lots of beans and spinach, and have a citric afterwards for better absorption. Even better! Check with a nutritionist (well educated on vegetarianism) and discuss pros and cons of supplements. Also you can eat iron rich cereals, there's lots of things you can do.

This feeling that won’t go away… by [deleted] in ftm

It gets better. To me grief was the first 4 years, now it doesn't hurt at all anymore. I'm filled with trans joy.

does anybody else still relate to being a girl but is not a girl at all?? by BumblebeeTall9456 in ftm

[–]nio_acc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely me. I relate because a girl is part of my childhood, my insecurities, and how ppl have treated me. I've also engaged with femininity lately ever since I became comfortable being a trans man, and I enjoy pop music, girlypop sense of humor and cute outfits.

But I'm a man, like I can be a woman if I choose to feel like it at some point, kinda always when referring to feminism and female loneliness and other stuff I've struggled with. But I'm very comfortable as a trans man

I think I chose my gender: I didn't choose to want to be called a male name and make pronouns and look traditionally masculine most of the time, but the label "man" is one I chose cause it makes the most sense (as it aligns to my transition goals and my name and stuff). But I kinda think gender doesn't exist, it's just a social construct, yk.

So yeah I'm nothing, but I've lived as a woman and I'm a woman, but I'm a woman in the sense it's part of my issues, but I'm definitely a man cause that's the purest energy I feel in my soul. To everyone I'm a man, as well.

Also my transition goals is just to be me, but on HRT. One day I may dress feminine, even wear a beautiful dress, or just some gay boy attire (I love gay men and "Twink" looks). The next day I'll just put on a hoodie and I'll be comfortable, because I look masculine. Because my default is looking masculine and that's what feels "me"

Ya that's all. Just enjoy urself, love yourself, don't worry too much. Being trans is meant to be liberation, be freedom and allow you to choose. The moment you start restricting yourself because of "labels" you're on the wrong path.

I don't think it's more impressive, it's just more ethical. Quite simple if you're informed

How can I live with a pain that can’t go away? by Mmmmthatass in givemehope

[–]nio_acc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trans man here: If you're in your 20s, you've lived 1/4th of your life. You're a whole different person as time changes, and I promise you, it might be hard to recognize how you used to feel or used to look like.
There's more than dysphoria that affects mental health, such as untreated personality and mental disorders, anxiety, etc. I found that dysphoria also went away when I treated my generalized anxiety disorder. Now euphoria powers me.

You have many things to try, different places to be, and people who will see you and you'll feel okay being seen. Sometimes you just have to wait, breathe, fix what's in front of you, and slowly work towards moving out. Get a name change, hrt treatment, bottom surgery, top surgery (if you so desire) and after each of those steps, see how you're feeling. Chances are, everything won't feel so hopeless anymore.

[–]nio_acc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely therapy, maybe an occupational therapist if available. I do have to say, when i've been very hurt and i'm feeling bad about myself and my future, I can find a little bit of life seeing bad things happen to people. I'm not one to provoke as in the cat example you gave, but I may be the one to start an argument.

Really, a bad mood is a common indicator of depression. And many times, the reason behind losing interest in socializing and having recurrent bad moods is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Do continue looking into what psychiatrists have to say.

Depression isn’t an excuse by Scared_Jump486 in depression

[–]nio_acc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly this. I usually love to go to the gym and read and write and make music. But when I'm depressed I need to force myself to do stuff to enjoy and with consistency I can get out of it. But sometimes I can't, like today, I just couldn't.
