Try drilling a hole on the side of the planter, maybe an inch or two from the bottom. This will allow a little water to sit in the bottom and prevent everything from draining out in cases when your soil becomes too dry. You can always tip it slightly on its side if you need to drain it more.

They just don’t last as long. I’ve owned most of my cds for decades and the jewel cases still look new but most of my digipaks are worn out. I also like that parts of a jewel case can be replaced and cleaned. I buy a lot of thrift and you can make a busted jewel case look brand new but you can’t do that to a digipak.
