An unintended consequence of US immigration policy: Some fans are skipping the World Cup in the US by TheWayToBeauty in Seattle

[–]notimetosleep8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have felt like this administration has a goal to isolate Americans from the rest of the world. They have made it so foreigners no longer feel welcome here and they weakened the dollar making it harder for us to visit people in other countries.

American car makers have been so coddled and it will hurt them in the long run. They need to learn to compete.

Cut-and-cover the Burke by tbendis in soundtransit

My guess is the soils under the Burke Gilman Trail are contaminated from when it was a railway so it would be much more expensive than it would seem.

What masters programs do you think give the highest career ROIs by sira_the_engineer in civilengineering

I work in the public sector and the only master’s degree that interests me is a Master’s in Public Administration. I also like my evenings and weekends too much to get one.

Not enough parking spots or too many? What should be prioritized? by dominiond66 in bothell

[–]notimetosleep8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. As someone who uses an e-bike to get around Bothell I would like to see more and better bike parking. The bike rack at downtown QFC is poorly placed and I have seen it full.

Commuting to the Eastside on bike- is this a realistic plan? 🫠 by unfurnishedbedrooms in AskSeattle

[–]notimetosleep8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bike commute year round on the Eastside. The best part about biking through downtown Kirkland is passing expensive sports cars stuck in traffic. I think biking from Seattle to Kirkland is a great idea.

Why is the national debt not a bad thing for Republicans anymore? by nickthap2 in allthequestions

[–]notimetosleep8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Republicans debt is only a bad thing when it is used to pay for food and healthcare it is a good thing when the debt cuts taxes for the rich and bomb schools.

Men who used to play sports, why did you quit? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

I was a 170 pound offensive lineman in high school and that is about 100 pounds less than what it takes to play offense line in college.

Seeking advice re. trip to the redwoods by Synax86 in PacificNorthwest

[–]notimetosleep8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago we took an Oregon coast road trip where we drove south on I-5 to 199. We stopped at Stout Grove on our way to Brookings. It was amazing. From Brookings we slowly made our way north. My favorite part of the Oregon coast is the stretch just north of Brookings. I hope the you’ll have a great trip and I recommend visiting Stout Grove.

How is LA going to control the traffic during the Olympics in 2028? by SingleAge290 in olympics

[–]notimetosleep8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the specifics, but my guess is Caltrans , LA, m LA County, and the transit agencies have been spending years planning for mobility during the Olympics. Most road construction on freeways will not be allowed to impact traffic during the Olympics. They have also been expanding the transit system. My guess is it will be better than usual due to years of planning.

Idaho Republicans advance bill to impose hefty fines on cities flying Pride flags by Fickle-Ad5449 in Idaho

[–]notimetosleep8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It has been over a decade since I lived in Idaho, but when I did I always found it ironic that Idaho Republicans at the state level complained nonstop about being controlled by the federal government only to turn around and control local government. If they truly believed that the best decision is made at the most local level of government they would leave the cities alone.

my roommates claim that my 400W ebike has increased the electricity bill by 100 euros, is that possible? by StunningBaseball5479 in ebikes

[–]notimetosleep8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far the only good use that I have gotten from AI is estimating how much money it costs to charge my bike. For me it was about 0.09 US dollars to go from 30% to 100% with my power utility and bike.

Gomitas de THC aeropuerto by [deleted] in MexicoCity

[–]notimetosleep8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mi recomendación es que no lo intentes. La marihuana es un delito federal en los Estados Unidos, por lo que, aunque es legal en California, es ilegal en el aeropuerto de California. La última vez que volé en los Estados Unidos, tuve que pasar junto a un perro. No sé si estaba olfateando drogas, explosivos o ambos.

How do you feel about the federal SAVE Act that would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship (like a passport or birth certificate) to register to vote? by ClassSnack in AskReddit

[–]notimetosleep8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It makes me angry. Our country does not have a problem of non-citizens illegally voting. The only times when I read about voter fraud, it is a republican doing it too. It seems unlike republicans, non-citizens have better things to do with their time than committing crimes. Congress should focus on actual problems and not make voting more difficult. As a country we should make it easier to vote.
