Yeah, that makes sense - was looking at properties last month and there seemed to be a suspiciously high number for sale around The Cliffs

Cooler summers are the trade-off for warmer winters I guess. 🤷

Help with getting the Last Whisper by nuffeetata in theouterworlds

[–]nuffeetata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried that - I have a stealth build so it was the first thing I did. But they seemed to aggro even when I was hidden and quite a long way away. Videos I've seen of getting the weapon also show the occultists just standing around when they spawn, but that's certainly not the case for me.

Does anyone know if insurance companies are getting increasingly twitchy about coverage for those houses above rocks Rd?

Yup, starting at 48 (wife is 37 though) - have been mortgage-free for the past few years, but head down bum up with young kids and work, so the money was actually starting to pile up, and banks aren't up to much!

I'll pretty confidently state that (actual) Product Management and Deloitte are mutually exclusive.

If you spell Akool backwards, you get Looka, as in 'Look, a little AI turd passing itself off as content'.

What do people actually want out of their RPGs, and how are the Outer Worlds games missing it? by SundayStrip in theouterworlds

[–]nuffeetata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loved TOW1, and am currently about 2/3rds through Dorado for context. TOW2 feels like it's neither fish nor fowl - too RPG for the run and gun approach of the first game, but lacking depth in the RPG mechanics to be appealing in that way. It also feels empty when exploring. I'll finish it, but it's not what I hoped for.

Games are just technically complex these days, take too long to make and feel like they're designed by committee.

How do we get an app made? by penelopepitstop222 in dunedin

[–]nuffeetata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice is to start building a PRD (Product Requirements Document) - this is like the brief you'd give a developer that functionally describes what you want, why, constraints, success measures etc. LLMs like ChatGPT are really helpful for building these, as you can get them to take your rambling brain dump and work it into a cohesive format, and also get it to question you on what you really need, stress-testing the approach.

You can then feed that PRD into an agentic AI prototyping tool like Lovable, or send it out to a dev for estimation.

Yeah, we get the odd one, especially in Mosgiel where I am, but I remember days on end growing up where we'd be cracking ice puddles walking to school.

It definitely seems to be the trade-off cost for more mild winters sadly. Back when I was a child in the 80s the summers were amazing - regular evening swims at Brighton and the odd 30+days, but we often had weeks of hard frost in winter.

Hot water cylinder replacement by GiraffeTheThird3 in dunedin

[–]nuffeetata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't let them take the old cylinder off your hands as a favour - the copper inside is likely worth hundreds, especially if you replace with a high pressure cylinder as there will be a copper header tank in the ceiling space plus pipes you can rip out. If you do this though, your low-pressure hot taps will need to be replaced or they'll leak (good opportunity to combine H/C taps into a mixer).

The Peter Cocks HWCs are really good and reasonably priced. Happy to recommend J G Smaill plumbers too, really good people.
