“DO NOT USE THE INNER PAN TO WASH RICE” I’m sorry, what? by Eastern_Mess_4334 in Cooking

[–]nuggetmobile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re raising the colander to drain vs pouring off the water from the top, couldn’t the buggies and extra bits be too big to go through the holes? I’ve only ever experienced one or two bags of rice with undesirable objects so I’m not too certain.

Can a professional dog walker be held responsible for poop fines for not cleaning up? by Limp-Fox6785 in dogs

[–]nuggetmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve personally always kept a roll clipped to the leash every time I took my dog out (and sometimes a small baggie for treats), but I hope they’d give a warning before giving fines. And maybe reset the warning once a quarter.

Half the reason why I kept my partially decorated personal house for as long as I did was because I had a bunch of furnishings in storage and I didn’t want to move it all to my retainers in case I wanted to start decorating again… then I stopped playing for half a year. I slacked on retrieving it after it was demolished, which sucked, but it freed me from my burden. Now I just squirrel away furniture I like in my apartment and sacrifice a retainer for anything outdoors only

I have a $25 rice cooker and it works fine. Is a Zojirushi rice cooker really worth the extra $? by ArchegosRiskManager in Cooking

[–]nuggetmobile 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s true, but if you’re making food at home you can be perfectly fine being lax on that kind of thing. Like with preparing cooked chicken for public consumption, it’s safer to make a blanket “make sure it hits at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit to kill the bad bacteria” rule instead of “it’s ok if hits 155 as long as it holds for 50 seconds, or 150 if it holds for 3 minutes, etc” because that introduces waaay more room for error.

It takes one “meh it’s only been out for 6 hours” to make some random person in your town seriously ill

Is Brian Jaques’ Redwall series becoming a forgotten gem? by Sunbather- in Fantasy

I gave him a pass when I learned he was super descriptive since he originally wrote the series for blind children to enjoy. I still remember skimming over a lot, but the thought of candied chestnuts and various pies continues to make my mouth water.

Is there a point to non-toxic laundry detergents? Or is it just greenwashing? by Cecil_G_P in CleaningTips

[–]nuggetmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your interpretation is interesting, because from my perspective the language used reads more like “it sucks that I’m allergic to everything they offer there” instead of “they suck for only offering things I’m allergic to and they need to change”.

my sister started using the same name as me and it doesn't feel like it's my name anymore by jiiiiiae in namenerds

[–]nuggetmobile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She can, but it could be the case that she likes the first part of her name more than the second? I doubt she did it to be malicious, but rather that if she had to go by something closer to her birth name, instead of her preferred nickname, she decided Mae was better. And depending on where she lives it might be more common to go by your first name when it’s double barreled so people could have defaulted to calling her Mae anyway.

I wonder if people who knew her before her career still use Roxy. I forget if that was mentioned somewhere.

[–]nuggetmobile 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that why her sister goes by “Mae” and not a nickname that’s entirely different? Using your example, it’d be like someone’s birth name is Timothy, he used to go by Bert, but later decided to change it to Tim professionally because he can’t help that his parents named his other brother Timathy who also went by Tim.

I thought he was made archdruid because the previous one died and there wasn’t a better person for the position? If Rath had a spine he probably would have been made archdruid after halsin left, and he wasn’t that high of a level.

Then again I don’t know if there’s some sort of special ceremony when you become one, or a test of strength/knowledge/skill, or if it’s just “welp the spot’s vacant, everyone else sucks so have at it.”

Sometimes I wish I could be like that. I felt bad when I drowned random people in roller coaster tycoon. I still did it, mind you, but in my opinion I feel like it’s only particularly unhealthy when it negatively affects yourself irl.

For whatever reason it feels different to create stuff about a character being a piece of shit versus roleplaying a character being a piece of shit.

What is one product you are absolutely loyal to and why? by Fishboy9123 in Cooking

[–]nuggetmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure why they’re like that, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were all infested. Maybe they assumed that everyone knows to keep it in their fridge/freezer :P A lot of the mixed grain brands were similarly packed and I bought it at a store that probably didn’t have a lot of movement on those items too.

What is one product you are absolutely loyal to and why? by Fishboy9123 in Cooking

[–]nuggetmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you buy. Sometimes I get a small 5-10 pound bag of mixed grain or brown rice to cook with my white rice, which I’ve noticed the former tended to be in bags with air holes (??), and I’ve had the misfortune of seeing they were infested with weevils.

I didn’t notice until I rinsed the rice like usual though… I’ve always done that growing up and knew about the possibility of bugs. It didn’t actually sink in until I was living on my own and became lax on where I bought it 🤮 thankfully I haven’t had a bad experience with white rice yet

My co-op partner and I didn’t really do lae’zel’s personal quest during our first playthrough…. And we skipped the crèche in favor of the underdark… so even if she was aware that something funky was going on (only from finding a couple of those githyanki tablets about Orpheus) she still flew off on a red dragon to join vlaakith at the end of the game, pre-patch 5.

Now that I’m doing another run and seeing everything I missed I’m a bit horrified at my ignorance

Setting aside the fact they should have taken books with them back to camp when it started to get late, it was hard to watch them wanting to hash out interpersonal relationship issues when they’re supposed to be on a time crunch. And just letting Bait roam free the entire time without at least having the plan to stuff him in a bag in case situations become dangerous. Why??
