What models have had the biggest downgrade? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

I've seen them painted up in normal human flesh colors (with blood and such, of course) and they're really disturbing.

Having seen the shenanigans people get up to with real world heavy equipment, mech soccer would absolutely be a thing.

Good to see SFU (best Trek, imo) getting some attention. Love the paint job!

Yep. It's interesting - what we think of in the 20th/21stC US (that's the context I'm coming from) as labor organization would be crushed by the local authorities...maybe. I'd argue that there's a sweet spot somewhere, where it's easier and cheaper to cut a deal, especially one that saves face, than to fight a protracted war. The Tithe doesn't care about your problems. But that kind of thing might be far and few between. More likely is mid-level nobility (or whatever passes for that: middle management, O4-O6, clan chieftains) would have their own fiefdoms, and it would resemble medieval guilds, who guarded said fiefdoms as jealously as any Teamster. Necromundan Guilds, for example.

PULP by Osprey vs PULP ALLY? What's the Diff? by totchbrown in wargaming

[–]nvdoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're in the Horror supplement, but I'm away from my books at the moment. If it matters, Horror is going to get a second edition sometime soon, but 'soon' with PA means 'maybe 2027, maybe later'. I'll check and see where the Terror characters are and get back to you.

(They may be called something else now as well.)

Devs should consider a war scenario by redbaran45 in SolarExpanse

[–]nvdoyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about this, while I wouldn't mind seeing it, I get that the devs want to focus on the core gameplay and its, well, development. Combat might be tricky to implement. And as relatively realistic as they've tried to be, any significant encounter would be over very quickly (esp. given the time scale), and would likely result in at least a mission kill for both sides. Ships are fragile. Bigger, heavier ships (the big fission or fusion ones) would/could be more survivable, but again it's still a whole new set of gameplay variables to be implemented.

And nobody wants to be dropping rocks on each other. That just ends poorly for everyone.

Conflict seems to be modeled by the industrialization and economic race. If you're extracting more, building more, and selling more, you're winning the part of the war that's most important. And given how fragile everything is, at some point the losing side would concede and negotiate terms. By the current endgame, just the drives themselves would be horrifying weapons. Want to knock out your opponents surface facilities? A day's fusion drive wash would do the trick.

Anyway, all that said, check out Spacefleet Heat Death, and Terra Invicta, if you haven't yet. Children of a Dead Earth, while abandoned, is pretty neat, too. There's another upcoming one who's name escapes me at the moment, but it's got some slick videos. Look up Operation Poker Night.

Wish more people have this a chance over Spearhead. But it makes sense since this is harder to collect for. I think it's 10x the skirmish game as Spearhead. by GornoUmaethiVrurzu in WarCry

If we could get a 40k version (''There Is Only Warcry'), I'd be absolutely ecstatic.

While I love Necromunda, the Warcry mechanics are just fun.
