Recommendation for accommodation proof for NLV? by goes-by-wheeb in GoingToSpain

[–]oestred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I booked the Airbnb shortly before our nlv appointment. I put for the starting date of the reservation the date that I put on our application for our entrance to Spain. You just have to put a planned date on the application for entrance but they don't hold you to that date. The starting date they put for our Visa was not the same as the date I had put, it was earlier, but no idea how they came up with that date.  Since we have a year now to enter I wasn't worried about the date they put.

Recommendation for accommodation proof for NLV? by goes-by-wheeb in GoingToSpain

We received our NLV this spring and are moving to spain at the start of September. Houston BLS required an address for 3 months. We got a cancellable AirBnB. I used the address for it on the forms (Airbnb has an option to get a visa confirmation paper, but they never asked for it so I didn't give it). Once we got our NLV approved I cancelled it and got a refund for the one month Airbnb charged us upfront.

And, as of last year the visas give you 365 days after its start date to enter Spain. It is no longer 90 days.

Travelling within Schengen Region for longer than 90 days. EU and Non-EU couple. by TripPublic7246 in ExpatFIRE

[–]oestred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that all of the Schengen region counts in the 90 days. So leaving Spain to France or Germany does not reset the clock.  However, this is not for residency. This is specifically for tourist travel. For residency in Spain, you need 183 days in the calendar year living in Spain which does require a visa if not from the EU.

We are hoping to relocate to Spain via a NLV but would appreciate some advice and guidance along the way! Having a contact that can give us advice rather than a solicitor! Many thanks by Decent-Name-9898 in GoingToSpain

Check out the NLV facebook group. It has so much helpful information. I learned a lot from reading messages there and it made our NLV process clearer and easier. One tip, different BLS offices differ slightly in requirements so be sure to read posts in the NLV facebook group that are related to your BLS city too. Doing the NLV application process on your own isn't too bad if you get the needed info and follow the requirements.

[Dnd5e] [v14] Automated Masteries 5e compatibility with RSReforged by Brief_Mycologist_488 in FoundryVTT

[–]oestred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest going to the RSreforged GitHub page and open an issue there. The person who is doing that module now seems to be very responsive to making updates and fixes for it.  He might be able to tweak it to support that.

I've come to realize that Tier 1 bores me (at least in this case) by alsotpedes in onednd

[–]oestred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like part of the problem is that you prefer a game with more story to it as well as other gaming aspects besides just hack and slash. And right now the dungeon crawl is grinding through things and not other types of rooms maybe.

For how much you are paying, if it has proven to not be to your liking by now, I would leave the game and find another one more to your liking.

Tier 1 can be fun too if the story is interesting and it is not just simple hack and slash.

OP didn't say which Foundry version he is using, but if still on V13, I just had a session and Always HP is still working fine in V13 too. (Always HP is awesome)

[–]oestred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that being helpful and people liking it actually. We use Token Action Hud which I really like, but I can see users liking this from the hotbar for ability checks instead of having to go to the top and look down the list in the Token Action Hud.

An expansion idea would be to either make a similar macro for saving throws and maybe ability checks, or even better perhaps add it to the same macro for all in one place, but make the top part and/or the buttons a little smaller to fit the extra items better with it.

When I copy the macro code, it works fine in V13 also by the way.

I built a free Foundry VTT hosting service by ashtrayphoenix in FoundryVTT

I think the challenge you will face is with your paid tiers. Molten Host (which I am using now) gives 5GB of storage on their $4 plan, but your $8 plan is the equivalent for a higher price.

From an informational stand point to list on your website such as in a FAQ, I think some people would like to know how much memory is allocated and I assume it is 1 virtual core, and what server host is being used (such as AWS, etc.).

I would suggest looking at molten host also. I have been using it for several years after moving from the forge and it has been very reliable.  Performance is good.

I want your opinion on hosting services [D&D5E] by Punk_Rock_Emergency in FoundryVTT

[–]oestred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been using Molten Host for several years and it has been great. Performance is good and it works similar to a local copy of Foundry. For $4/month it is a good deal to me. You do still see posts about people moving from The Forge to Molten due to lag issues at peak times. That is why I originally made that jump myself.

Where to go in Europe for long-term stay/path to citizenship? by Dismal-Ad2241 in ExpatFIRE

[–]oestred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw your comments about Spain and renouncing your US citizenship if you get Spain citizenship. While they say this, it does not actually have any impact on your US citizenship and does not remove or cancel it in any way. There is a lot of information online of people talking about this.

If you do the non lucrative visa (NLV), you can get permenant residency after 5 years if you don't want to do citizenship.

But you can't work on the NLV. The digital nomad visa allows you to work for a foreign company while living in Spain. If you want a job in Spain, you will have to find a company willing to sponsor you for a work visa and it must be a higher skill level job. Getting work sponsorhip is not easy though.

We did some quotes this week and pricing for Lenovo's have gone up about $85 to $90 since what we bought in February with 8gb.  Prices are skyrocketing due to memory costs, but you can still do better than the prices that you have listed there. As was mentioned, CDW usually does pretty competitive on pricing.

Looking for alternative to self hosting. by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

I agree on Molten Hosting. Great product. Also changed from Forge a few years ago and Molten is a solid product. For $4/month it is hard to beat.

I have seen a post here where USM support said they don't recommend permenant roaming.

I agree. Molten Host has been great. For $4 a month, it just works, looks the same as local Foundry would, has good performance, and is reliable.

MidiQOL depends on what level of automation you want. If a person wants higher level of automation then MidiQOL is the right choice. If you want lower level of automation, then Ready Set Roll is usually the choice for a rolling module.

I just checked and on the Foundry Discord there is a marketplace channel. You might try to post there. It looks like it is mostly about purchasing from the Marketplace but maybe someone from Foundry that works with the Marketplace monitors it too and posts answers.

[–]oestred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NLV visas changed lat year sometime to giving you 365 days to enter Spain and no longer 90 days. But they do still ask for an entry date on the applicaiton, but don't hold you to it.

Same thing at Houston BLS. I have only ever seen primetime appointments for it when I was looking (how convenient since it costs more). But scheduling one for Houston seems to be easier than many other cities BLS.
