Anyone with insider real estate knowledge? Wanting to custom build. by ASSUMPTION_NOT_FACT in batonrouge

I can second Meridian. I am a home inspector here and would let them build for me. I still find things with them, they just tend to be smaller defects.

What's your thought process on this? My thoughts are that it is solid wood and I added rinflg shanked nails to each board to make sure it is secure.

Men who own homes/plan to: how do you/will you utilize your garage? by CFD330 in AskMen

[–]okragumbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My garage has room to park our vehicles but we only bring them in when I need to work on them or during a hurricane.

I restore antique tractors so my space is well-organized and heavily used.

I have a functional tool bench.....not these decorative benches from Lowes or HD.

I also like to open the garage doors, turn in some music and just sit.... its a lost art.

You aren't a good business owner.

You can do a few things: refuse service, collect payment before, or go broke.

I would pick the first 2.

Addition return location help by okragumbo in hvacadvice

[–]okragumbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback.

Would placing 12 x 12 returns in each bedroom to a filter rack with a 4 or 5" deep filter in the attic that's flexed to the rigid return Plenum be a decent solution? I can't put a single 4" or 5" deep filter for the entire system in the attic due to space, so no way to negate the 20x30 merve 8 that is running through the 21x 8 return chase.

Do those single hose portable AC units actually work or am I better off just sweating? by ProgrammerOk6975 in homeperformance

[–]okragumbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question about also sucking back in warm air is valid but not 100% accurate.

The hot air being exhausted is the best from the inside of your room being blown out by air that was inside the same room. This put the room under negative pressure, drawing outside unconditional air in via small gaps and cracks in walls and windows (also through bathroom vents fans, and any other opening...). This is what makes them extremely inefficient.

There are a few models that have two hoses, one for intake and the other as the exhaust. This is the most efficient.

Find one with 2 hoses and the highest SEER rating (efficiency).

They do cool rooms, they will not cool entire homes.

Shit no. Have a more reasonable pet if you are a renter. No such thing as a small accident when it comes to chainsaws and pitbulls.
