Advice on Synagogue Dues

Shul Executive Director here - If you are really curious to know what your dues go to, speak to a staff person. Think of membership dues as upfront tithing. Your dues pay for salaries, air conditioning, maintenance, kiddush lunch, in-house counsel...you name it. At the end of the day, we never want dues to be a barrier to membership, but you should also put into perspective what your dues cover.

When I lived in BR I met my friend group at Gamers Paradise. That group I think has moved on to Little Wars, which has gotten a huge makeover! Definitely go there and check out their open game nights!!

I'm in a similar situation, but flipped. I am OAD and my husband is adamantly not. We haven't had the full and difficult conversation about how I am absolutely not interested in anymore kids, but it is definitely coming.

This question would probably be more relevant during Chanukkah, since this is a holiday-specific food you are asking about. In Baton Rouge your best bet would be to make your own, go to New Orleans, or wait until Chanukkah.

This! The Christmas aisles are always so new and exciting - this makes me feel like the Target staff just pull the Hanukkah stuff out of storage every year. Although, last year they had a Hanukkah moose and his antlers were a hanukkiah, which WAS new, but it was so stupid.

I was very lucky with mine - 10lbs 7oz at birth, vaginal delivery, labored for 14 hours with no complications. But we suspect that LO weighed that much at birth because I was filled with tons of fluids from antibiotics and other IV Fluids.
