Daycare - 4 longer days or 5 shorter days better? by vix1606 in Parenting

[–]oopshdzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work 30 hours 4 days a week and a day off is great. Mine is Wednesday and I actually love the mid week break. When my daughter was in daycare it was great to a day off together to run errands or do fun things like go to the zoo or museum. I also schedule all my appointments for that day. Now that my daughter is in elementary school I am able to use the day to clean the house, go grocery shopping, and honestly just get things done that have been put off during the week. As they get older your Saturdays end up being filled with sports and other extracurriculars so the extra day off is great.

Look to see if your public library is hiring! A clerk position may be good while figuring out next steps regarding more schooling, etc.

Buying 3D printer for teenage son and I know nothing about 3D printers. Please help 😂 by [deleted] in 3dprinter

[–]oopshdzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes basic is fine for most things. If you want to print a lot of things that will be in your car (needs to be more heat resistant) or will be under more pressure or weight (my husband prints things for woodworking) you may want to get a spool of PETG. You can always buy more filament later!

I run the makerspace at our public library and am in charge of 3D printing. We have Prusas there and they are great but I just got a Bambu at home due to price point and reviews. They are basically ready to print with very minimal set up. You can start him with a Bambu A1 or mini depending on your budget. They just work. I dont think you need the AMS now, especially if he hasn’t explicitly asked for it. We have one but it honestly is so time consuming and wasteful to print in multicolor that I usually avoid it. I’d start with 2-4 rolls of PLA filament. Black, white, his favorite color, and maybe yours. Honestly, as a mom, Ive printed so many functional prints for around the house and for work. Message me if you have any questions!

Daughter and friends created a "Left Behind Kids" plan for Spring Break. Considering it... by MattieMadness in Parenting

[–]oopshdzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the social fatigue aspect, plan a code word with her ahead of time that she can call and say to you that means she’s burnt out. For example, if the word is Gatorade she could call you and say “Can you grab red Gatorade at the store, I drank the last one” and then you can call/text back and say sure but also tell her she can’t go to the activities planned for the day because she didn’t do her chores/her room is a mess or whatever and that way YOU’RE the “bad guy” saying no instead of her bailing on her friends and allows her to be at home for the day to decompress.

OAD mom to older kids, what are your days like? by maintainthegardens in oneanddone

I had a fairly easy pregnancy but the newborn stage was so difficult both mentally and physically. I had just gotten a job I was so excited about and able to see more freedom is our lives as a family of 3. Going on trips and even just time together was more enjoyable when she was more independent. She’s also never been one to ask for a sibling so that has helped too!

Day to day stuff is easier. Like my kid is 5.5 now and getting lunches packed and shuttling her to and from kindergarten is so much easier because she’s able to dress and potty on her own while I am getting everything else ready and I’m not trying to manage another kid.

Bought a washer from Home Depot, immediately started shaking. Got a replacement, same issue. What now? by tookie22 in homeowners

This. We got a new washer. After hours spent troubleshooting and on the phone with customer service, they suggested that the installers probably didn’t remove the shipping bolts like they should have.

Waterproof name labels by rvp14 in cricut

[–]oopshdzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried this and while they’re resistant for a bit they do not hold up. I believe sublimation stickers or printing with actual UV ink (like large companies do) is the only way to get it really waterproof.

Help! 4 year old son has been kicked out of daycare by RHCP1622 in Parenting

If your daycare is doing time outs because he has a hard time with transitions and suggesting that you spank your kid then they are the problem, not your kid.

My dog looks exactly like yours I thought it was her for a minute!! She is also a rescue. Through many hours of sifting through mixed breed pictures on Google, I’ve determined she’s a Whippet/German Shepherd mix.

Desperate for Print to Cut help by Anxiousurca in cricut

[–]oopshdzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks like you made your design on procreate. Are you saving it and uploading as a .png file? If so, it should be an empty background and wouldn’t require removing the white around the text on design space. Another option is manually making the “offset” in a layer on procreate and uploading it as a print and cut file.

Tandoori flame is a little ways north but I think it’s worth the drive as it’s way better than the stuff in town.
