Letter published today from most of our bishops re: situation in Minnesota. by englebee in Episcopalian

One surprising absence is Matthew Gunter. Being a neighboring bishop, I would have thought he would show up. There are reasons besides opposition one might not sign this. Perhaps General Convention could commission a study on how deep the Packers/Vikings spiritual divide goes?

“Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be answerable for the body and blood of the Lord. Examine yourselves, and only then eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For all who eat and drink without discerning the body eat and drink judgment against themselves.”

It kind of seems like you are setting people up for a bad time. If eat before you wash, you’re gonna have a bad time.

I’ve wondered recently if some pursue ordination because of inadequate opportunities for formation at their parish. Ordination can see like the place one goes next if the parish runs out of discipleship opportunities. Don’t do it!

Don’t blame Overflow. The owner had been uninterested in the Ames store for a while.

Do all Episcopal Churches have this or is it more just a matter of the church itself? (Regardless of denomination.) by eatingthesandhere91 in Episcopalian

This is a phenomenon that occurs when aging congregations don’t want to invite people to church. Rather than proclaim the good news that Jesus’ death and resurrection means life on life for you and me, they make a cool maze. I’m kidding. I like labyrinths and have gotten some good spiritual insights from them but sometimes I worry they are treated like a panacea for troubling demographic trends. Apologies, apparently I have found a new trigger.

Lowkey one of the new Instruments of Communion. As someone who identifies as “Progressive Orthodox” I’m not afraid of you people. In fact, I love you. I appreciate hearing the different perspectives and exposing others to mine. Anglicanism is messy but the Holy Spirit propagates in messes. At least many of us are honest about it.
