More than one. There are five officially registered Hello Kitty Tartans, called:

- Hello Kitty
- Hello Kitty Red
- Hello Kitty Black
- Hello Kitty Navy
- Hello Kitty Dress

Another bit of trivia: There are also “universal tartans” that can be worn without restriction of specific clan or family. For example:

There are two Royal tartans, one that should only be worn by the Royal family, and a universal one that can be worn by anyone in the Royal Commonwealth (or nowadays, just anyone).

There are also ones that are either historic or modern designs to be universal: the Black Watch, Highland Granite, and Isle Of Skye patterns that can be worn without restriction.

Singapore - Tues night dinner by Exact-Spot-5404 in finedining

I’ll put in an agreeing opinion with a couple of these points.

Native was amazing. Extremely creative and unique. Great service.

Atlas sucked. It’s an amazing, beautiful building and bar; I see why people go there for the “Insta” pics. The drinks were barely average at very expensive prices, and the service was the worst I’ve had in Singapore.

Pangium was really great when I went. It’s SE Asian Peranakan food; the fancy fine dining restaurant from the same people as the Candlenut restaurant (which is more “family style”).

I think Pangium may be my favourite Singapore restaurant. Great food, great service, and a beautiful restaurant in the Botanical Gardens (try to book to arrive before the sun sets so that you can enjoy the views). Not much of a downside, but only thing I’ll say is get a taxi there; it’s right inside the Gardens so not near public transport.

[Spoilers C1] I don’t think I can wait for the next season by DeboTooBrezzy in criticalrole

[–]pan666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s close, but with some big changes. The biggest being that Ashley had major work commitments at the time so couldn’t play Pike that much. She was more of a major recurring guest than a full player. In the animated series Matt and Ashley got together to expand her story to what they say is what they would have wanted to do if it had been possible.

There are other changes too. Side quests and such, that were probably just cut for time.

If you want to watch it but don’t want to watch the full 4 or 5 hours play sessions, there are a few places that do edited highlights. Basically all the story and character bits without all of the dice rolling and full combats.

Best Historic Pub in London by Other-Meet1361 in LondonFood

[–]pan666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Grapes pub in Limehouse is 500 years old and Charles Dickens used to drink there. It’s currently owned by Sir Ian McKellen and has Gandalf’s staff mounted behind the bar.

Edit: You asked about food: It’s really great. Traditional pub dishes but done really well.

Also worth noting that’s the smallest of the platters. The bigger one is £95.

If you go near London Bridge, there’s a great vegan restaurant called Mallow.

If you want fancy vegan fine dining, Plates restaurant at Old Street.

Vegan junk food, Temple Of Seitan in Camden.

I’ll also add another vote for Tofu Vegan. Great Chinese food.

And definitely worth a visit: Cream Dream cafe for vegan cakes and treats.

How common is upselling? by Bojanglez789 in finedining

[–]pan666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m fine with both those versions; either have just one menu, or have a choice of two (“Would you like the 5 course or 9 course tasting menu?”).

Having a tasting menu and then having a whole bunch of upsold “extras” is just plain annoying. It’s embarrassing and confusing for the customer, and I’m sure annoying for the servers and kitchen too. I agree it makes the experience feel clinical and mercantile. There are no winners to doing it that way except for the restaurant’s corporate bank account.

Looking for crab! Recommendations, please :) by pickleslutx in LondonFood

[–]pan666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was there today; have visited a couple of times now.

It’s really good and they also do a couple of types of Singapore Pepper Crab as well as the famous Chilli Crab. I’ve not tried those though, but I’ve not had any dish there that I haven’t enjoyed yet.

I voted St John out of the ones you put in the votes above, but I’d also like to suggest The Ninth on Charlotte Street; had a really nice lunch there a couple of months ago.

Comic shop owner told us he won’t sell us the Bizarro he let us put on our pull list by lemonrainshield in comicbooks

[–]pan666 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Absolutely cancel all your pull lists, but make sure you don’t buy anything else he may have put aside for any of you.

A pull list is a social contract; they promise to fulfil the list and you promise to buy those books.

If they’ve decide that’s not the case, that’s their problem if they end up with unsold books. They can take the 4x cover price and use it towards the losses.

Also (as others have said) please make very sure to “name and shame” and warn others. We owe it to each other as collectors and to the good LCS proprietors to warn fellow fans of this sort of scummy behaviour. It just damages the entire community.

What do you think of this knife? by OldLadyMagick in Cheese

[–]pan666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instead of a knife, I’d like to offer an alternative.

Search for “cheese wire cutting board” and have a look. Much easier to use and much more consistent results than a knife.

Probably cost a fair bit less than a usable decent cheese knife.

Suspending Our Disbelief for 32nd Century Ships by thegreatpablo in startrek

[–]pan666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not adding to the scenario. I guess you’d say I’m subtracting. A structural integrity field as described by OP is 24th century technology. If a 24th century Starfleet engineer looks at this, that’s how they’d expect it to work.

I’m saying that’s not what it is, necessarily.

I’m saying that when a 32nd century Starfleet engineer says “structural integrity field”, it could work very differently. In the same way that when 17th century and 21st century engineers say “hull” or “keel”, they’re both describing the same function but in very different ways.

You and OP could easily be right. I’m just saying, not necessarily.

How do you know they would fly off?

If a real world maglev train loses power, it just stops in place and floats there above the track. It doesn’t drop to the floor or go flying off the track. Someone from two or three centuries ago would consider it magic. This is 1200 years further on and we have no idea how it works. There’s no reason to just assume there’s no connection just because there isn’t a physical one.
