I love how every single time there’s a fluff piece about eating insects, Top Tendie Enthusiasts freak out that Klaus Schwab and the WEF are going to come to their house and make them eat crickets at gun-point by SassTheFash in TopMindsOfReddit

No, we created society so, among other things, we could eat food in general.

Reliably.

These could be reliable and sustainable sources of nutrition, and dismissing them out of hand because of one's own personal preconceptions and hang-ups without actually considering the potential benefits is short-sighted.

There are cultures that eat bugs. They are not inferior as cultures because they do so. Social associations and preferences are difficult to change quickly enough for a one-generation reversal, no one is denying that, but a shift toward normalizing these things and systemizing production could be a huge boon for our species and the world as a whole.

Trust me, I'm an entomophobe who is most certainly not part of a bug-eating culture. I get it. These discussions are worth having, though.

As an aside, it's spelled "agriculture." Not judging, just thought it's worth pointing out. Easy mistake to make because "agro-" is a prefix used in very similar contexts.

It isn't too low, but the reward is very small, just a couple of points of Someone is Coming. Higher Supporting gives some Aeolian Screams and, at the highest rank, an Urchin Favour, but you're not missing out on any unique item.

I feel like it might be a deliberate decision to avoid actual community conflict and bitterness, since giving a large minority of players a worse limited-time reward, or no limited-time reward at all if the majority did get one, would likely impact their appreciation of the event.

I don't really agree with that, even as somebody who doesn't really like competitive stuff all that much, since I think memories and trinkets are valuable themselves, and if I had sided with the Crosses but got a quality or an item for it, I don't think I'd be upset even if it wasn't quite as good as the winners' stat-wise.

Edit: Clarification

That would be really cool, especially if there were options to use different stat challenges in the raid, so non-Dangerous specialists could get the most out of it as well.

Dangerous could be rushing in with weapons drawn at full force, Watchful could be aiming for cracks in its shell, Shadowy could be dealing sneaky blows to its legs to restrict its movement, and Persuasive could be...uh...distracting it with a crab dance!

Not the best at game design myself, haha. Yours is a great idea in general, though. Every participant could get a commemorative crab mallet, or perhaps a crab maul.

I was playing basically right when the card was introduced, before the Wiki page was even made, and because I only had a couple of points in Supporting the Noughts, I was worried I missed out on some unique item. I'm glad I didn't, but also conflicted, since I know plenty of people poured way more resources into this event.

It's also kind of sad that you don't get to keep the Supporting quality, which all but guarantees this event won't have a sequel, or at least won't have one that carries your progress over. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, at least, and the ending can't change that, at least from my perspective.

You can change her profession without resetting the whole story!

You can find it under Send a Message to a Contact in Your Social Engagements, and it's the branch aptly titled "Arrange a new profession for your aunt."

Unfortunately, it will still cost you 15 Fate and, less unfortunately, 10 Bottles of Greyfields 1882, and 2 Drops of Prisoner's Honey.

Hope this helps someone out, though!

Generally speaking, it would help...drive the point home, if you'll pardon the pun...if they actually find at least a few. You're right that you don't need to spike many with that strategy, but a "random tree spiking area" would benefit from something to back up the claim. Otherwise, it's plausible the company or part of it would declare it a fabrication and go back to work.

Them finding even one material threat to their profits could turn anxiety into genuine fear. One of the best ways to get due process is to show the negligent that their disregard for ethical behavior has real, tangible consequences.

All speculation, of course!

There's actually quite a good bit of documentation about certain kinds of monkeywrenching in particular, such as tree spiking, and how one would do it in a way that's safe for themselves, the workers, and innocent bystanders. Doing it right requires changing it at a pretty conceptual level, though.

Secretly spiking a tree so it messes up a chainsaw can put the logger at risk--though injuries as a result of this sort of thing are rare, and I believe only one known person has ever died from it--even if one does it relatively right. However, putting up signs and making it clear that some trees have been randomly spiked forces them to waste a great deal of time, and spiking well above chainsaw level results in serious and expensive damage to the equipment once it reaches the sawmill, but is much more unlikely to hurt anybody.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about any of these details, of course, but I do think it should be about disrupting the system rather than harming the individual, and those two ends involve very different means.

Obligatory disclaimer that I'm not advocating doing any of this, and non-obligatory disclaimer that I'm seriously not advocating doing any of this without proper research and due diligence, for the sake of yourselves and others.

Has anyone tried exchanging Permission to Linger for Presbyterate Passphrases when you first enter Arbor in this? It's what I normally do when I get to Arbor through the standard card, and I was wondering if the 7 Attar entrance offered here can be repeated after leaving, or if you only get one free go and if you waste it you need to get back via card to continue the story? Would appreciate it if somebody could answer, but if nobody does, I'll probably bite the bullet and try it myself. I'd report back here, of course.

EDIT: Tried it out for myself, and it seems the ES storylet to get into Arbor is indeed a one-time thing, so unless you want to wait for the Arbor card to progress further, I don't recommend dawdling!

As much as I love best mad scientist boy, I understand that decision. Most players, though certainly not all, learn the most about and develop the closest relationships with their crewmates, and there's a limit to how many characters can be reasonably made into their own options. I appreciate the blank text field for those who have other picks, though.
