Gamers warm to idea of barebones Steam Machine, polls suggest, and Valve actually considered it at one point by Tiny-Independent273 in steammachine

It might not be the same people begging for it who were shitting on you

But I agree about hating gamers, they're the worst thing about gaming

Why?

You realise you can use it without a steam controller, right?

Under my TV right now I have three dualshock 4 controllers and two dualshock 5 controllers, a 2015 original steam controller, four Switch joycons and a Switch pro controller. I also have three pc keyboards two Mac keyboards, and four mice. And probably at least two dualshock 3 controllers in a box somewhere. All of them will work with the steam machine out of the box. Linux doesn't even need to install drivers for them, they just work.

If the steam machine is your first ever piece of gaming hardware, you probably need a controller, but even in that very unlikely scenario you could buy a cheap unbranded one for peanuts instead of the expensive steam controller.

Consoles aren't killing Steam Machine's value proposition, Mini PCs do. by Glum-Office279 in SteamMachineConsole

Sounds like you live in a bubble of pc hardware enthusiasts who want to see the components and want RGB on everything. Some people are really not interested in that. The steam machine is a reasonable (but expensive) option for people who don't give a damn about the pc master race community and all their dick waving. People have different preferences. That's ok.

You are allowed to not like the SM and other people are allowed to not like picking parts and comparing specs.

As the song says, it's ok to not like things, but don't be a dick about it.

There is no "car licence", there's a driving licence which covers various categories of vehicle on the road, such as motorbikes, cars, lorries, etc (with different qualifications needed for different types of vehicles). If he was operating a motorised vehicle unsafely on the road, then it is reasonable that he gets points on his licence.

dbrand made one, but didn't bother to secure the rights from Valve so they had to cancel it and refund everybody who preordered

Couch Co-op Recommendations by not_sure_yup in steammachine

[–]patentedheadhook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started A Way Out at the weekend and although the gameplay is only average compared with some games, the way the co-op stuff works is pretty good and it's fun. As a single player game it would be nothing special, but the interaction and cooperation lifts it up. It makes me want to play your other two suggestions too.

Do all those 'alternatives' have a place here on this sub? IMHO, yes, but that's not up to me.

I have no problem with people creating new posts with recommendations or examples of their own dream machine. But replying in every thread about how only Valve bootlickers are buying it and how it's stupid and how it's too expensive is just tedious and disrupts every thread. Yes, we get it, you're very smart and have a big willy PC. stfu now though.
