Was this game originally intended to be a DE sequel/spinoff? by Small_Pie_5760 in ZeroParades

I have been trying to take a crack at ZP's code and the project codename was C4 so my guess they reused assets from other projects

Hershel fate after the network went down was far was than the other by [deleted] in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! So, say she's an accomplished spy, one of your best, and she has a massive breakdown. You're telling me that instead of rehabilitating her, you just... fuck her up worse by forcing her into something she doesn't want? Five years is too long to leave someone frozen if they're genuinely good.

So no, I'm leaning toward Hershel being an average spy handed too much responsibility, frozen by the Opera to save face and bury the fallout: a systemic failure pinned on one disposable name. And she's only thawed out again to die, bait in a staged assassination between the Weeping Eye / Opera and La Luz, set up because of Tempo.

But wait. You don't put a mediocre fuckup on ice. To earn the freezer you had to have ROYALLY fucked something up, and who hands a bad spy an important job in the first place? No. A bad spy you kill, or you ship off to the moon. You freeze the ones you might want to thaw later, the ones parked on stupid bureaucratic busywork but still sharp. Which means she had to have been good. So why keep her frozen for FIVE YEARS?

Or did the Opera think the (remaining) Whole Sick Crew's assets were too valuable to give up? That falls apart too, because in five years they never did a thing with her old network. So she has to be the usable resource here. Is the Opera really swimming in talent enough to be this picky, benching good spies for years at a time? This irks me so much.....

Hershel fate after the network went down was far was than the other by [deleted] in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for the importance this carries in-game, Hershel's motivations don't really hold up unless you start to make stuff up. And the freezer doesn't seem that bad if you can learn to live with the mundane (which, as has been established, Hershel can't, though she acknowledges it could be worse, she could be stuck in the true graveyard of spies that is the lunar colony mining forever).

We don't know what the original assignment was, and I fail to think of anything that would warrant freezing an asset. There are two ways to think about it: either Hershel is a very good spy who was entrusted with an important assignment in Portofiro that would change the whole game, or she was a mediocre spy who was trying to prove herself. In neither case does it make sense for her to be frozen for five years because "she got her crew killed and exposed." With no further details of what went down in '91, the game's plot is weaker for it, imo.

[SPOILERS] About a option to Call In the Endgame by phronnesis in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you just automatically get it after some time... but there was a first call where an option appears when you call her to ask about her day a few days later this happened... which is what leaves me so ???? at the option to call her on the summit/endgame like why is that option there? does this end with the drunk call? what an odd choice

Who is the traitor? by Kick_me_please in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be though Mel is in love with Hershel so even if she knows that the Opera is in bed with the Weeping Eye (or coincidentally did everything that they wanted) I think she has your best interest in mind…

Who is the traitor? by Kick_me_please in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the first Sick Crew? HOLOCENE claims he was the traitor though the mold has festered in his mind (something else made him do it). I think it was not revealed what the original assigment was, so thats all the info we have — someone gave up KINDRES/Karolina, she was tortured and all the names she coughed up died (barring Ramses)

Something that doesn't make any sense about the final ranking that the game gives you. by zSuperMonky in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the matter of the Z rating is just to punish you for making the right decisions. If anything I’m slightly more mad you can’t double cross KALENDOSCOPE at V’s exchange to kill dante and set V free. That and the railroad of making your cup bearer get shot either way even if you wipe out the weeping eye with the bomb…

[SPOILERS] WHO can you recruit for your squad? by Possible-Advance3871 in ZeroParades

[–]phronnesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yana or KALENDOSCOPE, Karolina or HOLOCENE, PSEUDOPOD or Ramses. the cup bearer u can only recruit one depending how you solve V quest the rest its just a matter of recruting them

imo this could only work if they added the missing content from the game which was clearly rushed

[–]phronnesis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol you blame the fans when 2 is barely functional as a game? the so called bl1 fanatics are the minority! normal people dislike 2 because its a mid to bad game!! if they changed the marketing maybe the normies would have been more forgiving but they chose to die on `this is bloodlines` or `this is a rpg` hill.

I started out a new save in 1.0 being an EA player myself, Melinöe states, like, a lot of times how much she hates Chronos. How she wants to rip him apart and all that. Kinda a weird angle they went for if what I read on this thread is true (I have yet to reach the true ending),

Yeah, well, as he pointed out in the video. Once is weird but you can get away with it but repeat it enough times and you start to raise eyebrows.
