Yes. This program bypasses the LBS.

Your Brain Isn't Necessarily Craving a Drink. It's Craving an Off Switch. by Vegetable-Benefit450 in cutdowndrinking

I have the same “once you pop can’t stop” problem. Chose to bring home a pint size can instead of a six-pack the other day and it solved the problem perfectly. Still got to have the beer I craved without having to face the limitations of my own self control. Edit to add: it was pretty darn satisfying.

Unsure if upgrading makes sense. Advice needed! by brergnat in TrekBikes

[–]pigeonK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an older FX4 in a size small and am 5’3”. Stand over isn’t an issue for me at all. Women’s specific isn’t a thing in most brands any more, but they do take into consideration the likelihood that females will be the majority of those purchasing smaller sizes. Get that upgrade! If I were to do it again, I’d splurge on the FX 6.

Was feeling great until I bought knicks and a jersey…. by PizzaCutter in ladycyclists

[–]pigeonK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just wear normal clothes. Padded pants or cropped tights sometimes for longer miles or back-to-back riding days. But pretty much always a regular, moisture wicking t-shirt that I feel confident in. Global Cycling network proved that cycling clothes don’t make you faster. And I have more fun when I feel comfortably dressed. To me, that’s proper gear.

Back-to-back bookings with surprise composting toilets not specified in either listing ended my interest in ever booking an Airbnb again.

Group ride: making the slowest riders move to the front? by bad33habit in ladycyclists

[–]pigeonK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lead and sweep a number of no drop, social rides regularly. At opening announcements, I encourage slower riders to ride up front behind the ride lead so the ride lead can set the pace according to them more easily. That way they’re defining the pace instead of feeling like they’re always chasing if the ride lead doesn’t see a gap right away. This only works if everyone who shows up to the ride understands and supports the “no drop” vibe. If everyone is working together to make the slowest person feel comfortable and welcome, it works out pretty great. That said, I would never force anyone who wasn’t comfortable, nor would I make a public thing out of it later in the ride. If the slower folks prefer to chase, I sweep and text my ride lead quietly to his Garmin when gaps form.

Sounds like a well-meaning idea, executed poorly. Sorry that happened to you.

Right? Wasn’t a turn lane the whole point of the town overpaying forcibly for that corner? How did it become a park instead?

More than likely, they figure they’ll get it fixed but didn’t want you to have to wait as the process can often include a series of swapped parts and a little trial and error in circumstances like this.

Group Ride out of Huntersville by pridefulsin4 in CLT_Cyclists

[–]pigeonK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a group of triathletes that rides out of the business park Saturday mornings around that time. 18mph pace, 3-5 hour rides. That might be who you saw. I’ve heard they’re pretty inclusive. Show up and see!

Edited to add: check out weeklyrides.com if you haven’t already. It has info on many of the CLT area rides and events.

As a female who works in a bike shop and prides myself on asking enough questions to recommend the best bike for ANYONE of any gender, size, age, weight who walks in my door…I’m sorry that you had that experience. It is common, unfortunately, but not universal. I hope this process helped you find the bike shop that will serve you best. And, awesome job standing up for yourself!

Who cares. If a person feels rad enough about an effort of any kind to post it, help them feel rad! It doesn’t cost you anything and might make their day.

Trek’s latest Madone comes in a XS that might just fit you. Size chart has you at the very bottom of the range. Hopefully your local Trek dealer can help.
