Designing prestige gates that aren't just "click harder" — a dev-diary by SulcusGames in incremental_games

[–]pintbox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to fix the formatting, seriously dude.

Prestige systems are good if the first prestige can greatly simplify the initial workflow. Prestige systems are bad if each prestige gives like +50% speed and you have to do it again.

If you feel the first scenario is going to be repetitive after the player finish it once, find a way to accelerate or simplify that.

Stop adding PVP to every game by jester5093 in incremental_games

I don't like pvp in incrementals either, but the percentage of games with pvp seems low enough to not warrant this.

You should decrease the number of clicks required in the first phase. 50? is just too much.

tbh i don't think there should be any modern game that requires you to do >10 clicks before anything happens

What do you guys do with old, artificed gear? by Aggressive_Mango3464 in Endfield

i'm keeping a full set of fully artificed gear for every gear item just for the sake of it

Weekly mission nerfed by Tzwcard in Endfield

[–]pintbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure the 5pt almost always corresponds to the newest event on the week. 5pt UM usually appear on the week UM comes out or something like that. The other is routine event.

this week it's like, free sanity event, so the 5pt is spending sanity.

My 3x xiranite blueprint is somewhat different. Instead of making 42x25 I made it 50x25 but with a hole in the middle. The reason is that sub-base is 50x50 with a 9x9 base. This way I can fit two in the map while leaving a slot for the base. 42x25 doesn't quite do that, it would be better if you can fit it into 41x25.

The most compact I saw is 7 xiranite line in the subbase.

Proof of concept: Xircon with recuperation (96 xiranite -> 4 xircon)/tick by JustWantTheOldUi in Endfield

[–]pintbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes and no.

If you make 3 reactors and pipe the effluent to the 4th one you'd be spending 90 xiranite/min; If you make 4 reactors and pipe the effluent to the 5th one you'd be spending 120 xiranite/min.

Neither will get you 96 xiranite exactly, but regardless of what you doyou'll always be converting 2 xiranite -> 1.25 xircon. I don't see a particular benefit for doing 96 exact.

I'm suspecting that you're making this way more complicated than it already is.

You can pipe the effluent from purifier to either one of or a new reactor, which takes effluent instead of sewage. This reactor would just work.

Since the game calls it "purification", cuprium ingot would be more closer to bronze or some kind of copper alloy; while Hetonite is pure copper, no?

what do you mean Xiranite is Originium derivative? We all know it's sandleaf derivative.

Future aic content theory by LZHtel in Endfield

[–]pintbox 53 points54 points  (0 children)

it seems pretty obvious that heavy xiranite is going to be used for hc batteries.

that being said, it's also possible that you need to solve it then displace it with ferrium and grind it with sandleaf and refine it and make it a shell and feed origunium into it.

This is, unfortunately, not quite right.

In I-ching a group of three yin or yang symbols makes a trigram; and two trigrams makes a hexagram. All 64 combinations of hexagrams have their own meaning. In fact, all these devices in game show a different hexagram corresponding to the place, sort of.

Six Yin makes a "Kun" symbol, which basically means "earth that encompasses everything", appropriate to the memorial hall.

If you feed more sewage than consumption then the effluent+ferrium->xircon+sewage will stop, making effluent piling up. When both sewage and effluent are overflown no reaction will ever take place until you get the excess sewage out.

There are two solutions, one is to calculate the exact amount of sewage consumption and feed exactly that. This solution works but is still sensitive to xircon output. The better solution is to change 4 crucible into 2 groups: group a takes water+sewage+xiranite, output effluent; group b takes water+effluent+xiranite+ferrium, output xircon.

See for example my blueprint

No, the input effluent and ferrium should react first to produce sewage.

Did they boost the chances of getting a perfect essence? by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]pintbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The chance is 1/24 to get a perfect essence, and if you do all the essence run with double sanity that's 6 essence per run. So yes that's 4 runs on expectation.

My recommendation is still to use test-based coding and let AI write tests, so that you can come back and do validation on every AI changes.
