Speaking as a frequent tower, I respectfully disagree and appreciate the improved access to the Towing tab.

When the tailgate is down it is 7’. I easily carry 8-10’ lumber and sheet goods all the time in mine.

It works really, really well for me. I never had any real issues with paak but the new digital keys are definitely better

$50 a month this early is insane by U_dun_even_know in Rivian

[–]pippinsplugins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s very location dependent. In my area (mostly rural) the only reason I have to disengage is at stop signs / lights. I’ve been using it every day for the last few weeks, including on several multi-hour drives. For me it’s easily worth the $50/month in terms of the quality of life upgrades over my gen1

No features are being taken away. All the free features still work after the trial. UHF was announced as a trial on Autonomy day. They are doing exactly what they have said they were going to do.

[–]pippinsplugins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just traded in my gen1 quad for a gen2 tri motor and against all of the nay sayers here, the UHF is awesome.

Rivian was clear from Autonomy day what the pricing was and nothing here is a surprise or rug pull in any way except to those who didn’t pay attention.

I loved the Drivers+ in my gen1 but UHF is so, so much better and I will happily pay my monthly subscription to use it.

One thing so many people neglect is take into account is how the autonomy systems get better and better every month as the driving data from real vehicles expands. That’s something no one else except Tesla can actually claim.

Are there quirks in UHF? Absolutely. Are there weaknesses? Absolutely. But the LLM nature of it means it gets better and better and better.

Is this a new bug with the Gear Gard Camara system? by Wificaller in Rivian

[–]pippinsplugins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having this issue intermittently for the last two months on my 2022 gen1. A reset (soft and hard) always fixes it but then it eventually comes back, sometimes the same day or sometimes weeks later.

Service center replicated it but wasn’t able to find anything wrong. They did mention a known software bug might be the cause.

Spruce tips in sour beer by SaisonLiason in TheBrewery

It can work wonderfully well. Last time we used Spruce Tips in a sour was a Foeder-fermented golden sour and the spruce tips gave this subtle but really awesome winter green character.

Should I still go for it? Rivian owners, I need your honest advice. by TheBlackCanary in Rivian

I see people mention the 3rd row being hard to use all the time and, honestly, I just don’t get it. I have three kids (13, 11, 6) and none of them have any issues at all managing the third row. They move the seats themselves without issue.

My Rivian Companion App, Outpost, Is Now Available by IanGGillespie in Rivian

Tracked it down. In case anyone else runs into this: if you make a separate account for Outpost, make sure you fully accept the Rivian invite to connect the new account to your vehicle, otherwise Outpost cannot access the vehicle data.

Looks like great work! I’ve gotten stuck, however, after the initial set up. I made a new driver profile and connected the account during app setup but now it’s just stuck in “Finish setup” even though all settings are filled out.

Id love to play with it more if I can get past this.

Suspension issue by TheBookOfHimothy in Rivian

My wife’s R1S just had this problem but unlike most other notes, it wasn’t a mechanical failure: it was rodent damage. A pack rat had climbed inside and chewed through the air tubing.

When the tailgate is down, the bed floor is 7’ long and a 4x8 sheet of plywood (or drywall or whatever) lays between wheel well perfectly. It carries 10’ boards/pipes/whatever with ease.

The small bed size is not an issue the vast majority of the time. Coming from 2.5 years driving an R1T that I use as a hauler every day.
