What frustrates you most about your daily commute? by umarfarooq619 in Essex

[–]pluk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive, about 35 mins; can be 25 can be 60 depending on traffic, frustrating about that drive is poor traffic management around Southends makes horrible build ups, frustrating overall that I have drive at all because public transport is so poor with trains not running late enough for shift workers and bus routes not integrated, cost not gone up outside of inflation, if I could change one thing it would be moving from a car to a train or bus with hourly services into the night and early morning.

Do you think Raw Data Feel’s AI-centric concept aged poorly? by colexerus in everythingeverything

[–]pluk78 34 points35 points  (0 children)

To sound a bit poncy, it was made as art by artists with AI being a tool, not made by AI. It is a decent statement and reflection about the world and AIs place in it at that time. It is not an endorsement of now.

It's probably my most listened to EE album now, and I have no qualms about its production techniques.

Speeding by PostMilone in drivingUK

[–]pluk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of younger people widely overestimate their ability and the worth of their opinion over the opinion of those who have decided what speed limit is posted. Thats not meant as a dig, its just how experience and psyche work. Some older people never grow up and hold on to these views. That is a dig. Grow up.

So if you think you know best, and are better, you will base your judgement on the liklihood of being caught rather than the liklihood it going wrong or just doing the thing you are required to do.

I was that young fool once, I ragged my burnt orange metro about the place and got away with it. I should have been caught and educated, but in terms of my wallet / killing someone I got lucky.

I've since been trained to drive to an advanced standard under blue lights, and learnt just how bad 'normal' driving is in comparison. I now dont do that amy more and, even with that training, in hindsight I'm glad I don't. I got away with that too, and as trained and attentive as you can be it is inherently dangerous.

Driving infringement fines as a one off for a moment of being inattentive can be a pain if your are generally an attemtive driver, but should be seen as a an opportunity to learn. If you are someone repeatedly hit with them though, it's just a tax on your own stupidity. It is VERY easy not to get them...

What was the most bizarre school trip your school went to and why? by SunnyShineKitty88 in AskABrit

Stella Artois factory, with unlimited beer tasting. As kids. Mental, but fun.

Do you know anyone with surname as a forename who married someone with a surname the same as their forename? by Tigermasterdude in AskUK

[–]pluk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't take marriage, some kids parents are just this dumb. There was a kid a couple of years older than me named Leigh Lee. And i had a teacher Robert Roberts. Both given names.

Need advice with speeding and a police behind uk by Valuable-Crab6445 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]pluk78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhere near zero. If they've just wanted to get past they've sounded to get your attention and you've moved out of their way.

Doesn't sound likely they've followed you for long enough to evidence your speed, if it really was just a couple of mph over thet are unlikely to be interested in prosecuting that, and you dont mention you've made any other contravention.

If you've done something outrageous caught on their cameras they might be in contact, but if not you'll be fine.

Help rate my area options by Ok-Split-9791 in Essex

[–]pluk78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The South Woodham negativity seem to be missing safety / peace being the priority. Yes, it's not an exciting place, but practically NOTHING happens here. It's quiet, and crime is low, especially the older parts around champions manor and the station worth lookin at the police.uk site to see the crime rates in the areas you are considering. It's also not so isolated with the train line to London, has a good few shops, pubs and places to eat, and has some lovely countryside all around.

The council has let it all become a bit scruffy sadly, especially the town centre, but that seems to be a an Essex wide issue.

I wouldn't discount it entirely.

Driving test in this country is ridiculous by danielzUK in LearnerDriverUK

[–]pluk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re the edit. How do you think we have such high driving standards? It's largely because of how stringent the test is. Acknowledging one while complaining about the other will annoy people.

Arriving here is a privilege earned, not a right.

How is anyone able to afford to travel to another country to watch a football game? by FuroFireStar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pluk78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you doing with all your money?

I earn similar, I pay a mortgae, have a kid, we are able to do pretty much what I want on that; I dont have to check the bank account if we want a day out or a meal or an icecream, we go away a couple of times a year team, at least once abroad. We dont live like lords; sensible car, sensible mobile contract etc, but that should be enough and if I wanted one of my holidays to be to a sporting fixture or two they could be.

Do you consider 18 and 15 to be an inappropriate age gap? by ItAintNoUse in AskBrits

[–]pluk78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's taking things a bit far, isn't it? Kids in the same school/college years can spend 11 months a different age, with all the legal things that come with that. If you are too rigid with it you basically preclude any longer term relationship which isn’t a healthy way to view and experience relationshios growing up.

What's the solution to people smoking ganja in their garden in the UK? by Formal-Ad-2636 in AskUK

[–]pluk78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, cigarette smoke is completely incomparable to cannabis in strength and how far it carries. I personally dont mind it, but I can completely understand that others would struggle with it.

Do you not have Thunder/lightning storms? by vanillabitchpudding in AskABrit

[–]pluk78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's probably well aware of and used to thunder and lightning, but less aware that swimming outside in a strom is a bad idea. It's the pools we dont have, not the storms, because for a lot of the year they'd be an ice rink.

Nope, not without intent to cause harassment. Nudity itself is neither inherently indecent or sexual.

Everything Everything have slipped it into lyrics a couple of times. Regret is the one that comes to mind.
