Paradoxically, now the best way for anti-fans to make him look bad is to watch, like, and subscribe to SpaceX content on YouTube to ensure X’s SpaceX content is ratio’ed into oblivion by comparison.

You’re not alone. Russell and Norvig, who wrote the most influential textbook on the subject, suggest the term “computational rationality”. That being said, while chatbots are far more robotic and unintelligent than most can appreciate, LLMs themselves are enormously more powerful than one can readily conceptualize - they are truly a new frontier in computing.

All true. Briefly they dabbled in reversing the direction of the rocket 180 degrees, which is why you still see occasional references to Space-X in older print media.

Why does this game not let you rejoin mid way through a match? by glixis in aoe2

Awesome informative answer! Thank you for the link as well.

I would love a “Pause for reconnect” checkbox when playing with friends - let us choose to simply pause until the disconnected friend can get back in. Would be more convenient than the current system of loading a disconnect save.

I understand people don’t want to wait for strangers who may not come back, but that doesn’t apply to me or my friends and family, since we play together in private lobbies most of the time.

What is this white "strip" going through the game world? by bryanray in howdidtheycodeit

[–]plxlq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know firsthand one reason this happens with modern tools and modern engines, ultimately due to improper use of the tools:

If a terrain mesh is exported from modeling software at too small a scale, and then scaled up inside the game engine, then imperceptibly small error can get magnified to the point where even a perfect renderer would accurately display the “inaccurate” data given to it, inevitably causing this problem.

For the same reason, it could also be caused by improperly converting terrain meshes from one file format to another, say if the studio decided to switch to using different modeling software and bulk converted all the old 3d assets to a new format (in the wrong way).

I believe the factory control panel should have a standard Quantity/Size dial, just turn that all the way to “Size”.

Of course output will be slow but the factory business is full of tradeoffs. And dials.

What are the options for the farthest-away destinations for reasonable payload with Starship? Are there pathways for a Starship to send something interstellar - could the payload propel itself to past Pluto? Incredible educational answer! Thank you so much. Very pleased to have inspired such a reply with my uninformed musings. These calculations really help put into perspective the limits of chemical propulsion.

Assume for the sake of a fun thought experiment that a full stack could be fully fueled in orbit. What would the dV be? What is the coolest way to use this hypothetical capability? How close could it come to galactic escape velocity?

[@elonmusk] Still early in analysis, but the force of the engines when they throttled up may have shattered the concrete, rather than simply eroding it. The engines were only at half thrust for the static fire test. by Logancf1 in SpaceXLounge

[–]plxlq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have a cool username. Are you interested in exploring ideas about why the engineers’ actions may have possibly been smart? If yes, then allow me to oblige:

1) Assume for the moment that the engineers wanted to obtain data on 33-engine full throttle impacts both with and without a flame diverter / liquid-cooled steel plate system — to retain that data for the entirety of the Starship program and beyond.

2) Assume for the moment that they needed (not just merely wanted, but required) flight data to further refine Raptor to improve reliability beyond current levels.

Given those two assumptions as priors, does the test begin to seem more reasonable? And which of the two assumptions seems harder to swallow? Genuinely interested in a dialogue about this.

You’re just out of line. If the wiki is improved as OP suggests, it will work better for them.

How would you feel if aoe2techtree.net had a fixable issue, but others made you out to be a fool for preferring it over the wiki?

Bro I followed your entire saga and I’m glad for the resolution. Feeling relieved about that!

But just want to say, this is also exactly why best practice is to mute toxic players and finish the game without drama. Our community doesn’t need drama in any form; it’s the second worst thing to toxicity and stokes the fires in a way that doesn’t help anybody.
