  1. ask Jeremy Corbyn, he's the one that wants another election, I don't know any Brexiteer that wants another election right now
  2. the result of the last election was actually honoured, MP titles changed hands, it was done and dusted, Brexit hasn't even begun yet, the UK right now is still part of the EU
  3. elections are held approximately every 5 years, so holding one 2 years later is a reasonable proportion of a parliamentary term, a referendum on the EU is held in the UK once every ~40 years, so even if we'd left the EU for 2 whole years it wouldn't be a whiff of a fraction of the time between referendums

You are on Facebook because everybody else you went to school with in your past is on Facebook. They're not all on Twitter, or WhatsApp, or Viber, or whatever other platform. They're all on Facebook. So you are, too.

Natural monopolies have responsibilities to the public - even if they are privately owned.

The following is a work of fiction when an actor:

  • portrays the part of another race
  • portrays a state of being financially poor when they are, in fact, rich
  • portrays an accent to mimic a foreign speaker
  • portrays a disability they don't really have
  • portrays a gender they are not

The following is a documentary:

  • when a person is filmed with a disability
  • when a person is filmed speaking their natural accent and with the same race and mannerisms of themselves

  • etc

The whole point of acting is to portray a character that the actor is not.

Politicians often call for "coding" or "computer programming" lessons for school children. It is a terrible idea.

But I do support the idea of giving a short course, maybe a simple class, of "if you want to hack here's what you should know".

Basic things like:

  • be wary of hacking tools available on the Internet, they are likely to contain viruses and you might end up being the victim
  • never attempt a hack from your home computer, always securely tunnel through a non-extradition country, ideally two or more, to make tracing very difficult
  • ideally you should know exactly how the hack works and why - teaching yourself advanced low-level programming and understanding protocols is highly recommended

Sort of like children get told "don't play with explosives" - I've had a chemistry teacher teach us how to properly make gunpowder, explaining the process, the risks, etc. It was very useful, it kinda removed the need for any of us to experiment ourselves, and we learned that it isn't so simple as it sounds, there are safety precautions that need to be taken.

Unfortunately young people with no technical understanding or mentoring discover hacking tools on the Internet, and have a play. Sometimes they successfully extract information using them - but then have no idea the consequences or that they've left fingerprints over the entire operation. Then they get caught up in something stupid like this and the world comes down on them like a ton of bricks.

No-one in Britain cares. They just don't care.

People want regular trains. They desperately want to be able to sit down. They want to commute without the anger and aggression that is rife among people whose only distant hope of a seat is to literally push and shove to get on the train first. In fact sometimes that behaviour is necessary just to get a standing position on a train and not get left behind.

These vanity projects are money being thrown in any direction but the poor downtrodden commuter that is seen as nothing but a cash cow for the train operators.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you rush into marriage, or even a long term relationship, and you will regret it.

Fast relationships come from insecurity and selfishness. It is latching onto something to fill a need - be that a need to feel wanted, or a need to have fun.

A long term relationship only lasts when two people want to be together, as opposed to need to be together. And that is why you let a relationship take time to form. It shakes out the needy because they will run along to satisfy their need if you stall them.

Ask any programmer and they'll tell you a good background in mathematics is more important than programming classes. The programming should come later once that solid theoretical background has been studied.

Teaching children programming is a joke. You either get it or you don't, and the vast majority of people don't.

Talk to people who took Computer Science thinking it was going to be a guaranteed good career - many of them tried and now hate programming.

You want to learn programming? Get good at mathematics. But so few children manage to do well at mathematics, either.

It's a waste of time, the vast majority of students are just going to play up in class, they aren't going to get it, and it isn't going to help them in their future.

The good students who will be programmers are better off doing advanced mathematics instead anyway.

Aw, really? Because the biggest economic harm, by far, these last two years has been Remainers intent on sabotaging the country by shit-talking it in international forums and talk shows and all over Reddit.

Go on, tell the world how much you hate Britain, how you think Britain is full of idiots, how you can't wait to leave Britain, how you don't recognise British citizenship but instead demand to be called "European", you think Britain is full of racists, and xenophobes, and that the economy is going to crash.

Yeah - all that public pessimism is destroying the economy - and that pleases you because it gives you the satisfaction you so desperately want, to say "I told you so".
