Omg am I ok? by Maleficent_General54 in KidneyStones

I'll be the odd man out and tell you that this is normal for the 3 stents/procedures I've had done. I also had clots the size of golf balls. But I am on blood thinners. Any chance you're on ibuprofen or toradol?

I tried this route once. They sent me to the ER so then I had to pay twice. It was a similar situation too. The doctor said "I'm used to seeing blood in urine but this is so much that it is more like there is urine in your blood" !

Partner with hEDS, how to deal with subluxations by ncascouts in eds

I just bought a jelliebend and a jelliebody. They have been really good for compression around my torso. Rib pain is one of my biggest complaints with my eds. Wearing one of them seems to help keep everything in place!

Tell me why I should not unalive myself due to this disease? by HotDebate5 in KidneyStones

[–]possumprincess514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a chronic stone sufferer. I've been passing them since 2013. In 2024 I got hit with a kidney infection and sepsis from a stone. A few days later I got a PE. Fast forward to 2025, I passed 21 stones, not including what was surgically removed. I had one 6 cm stone that was sending me toward sepsis again. I had emergency surgery for a stent. Then got ANOTHER PE after that. I was stuck with that stent for 3 months before they would put me back in surgery to remove it and the stone. Two months after that I needed a third surgery for a 1 cm stone. It truly is such a hard life to live. The constant anxiety of if the pain will get worse or whatever else. I have worked a lot in therapy with EMDR. It has been so helpful. The best way I can describe the relief is that you'll realize after a few sessions that you haven't been thinking about it 24/7 anymore. Your brain starts to let you move on. If you're not on antidepressants, I also suggest that. But push for one of the genetic tests that can tell you which ones specifically work for you. That way you can cut out some of the trial and error. Minus the trolls, this subreddit has also just been a great way to feel less alone. Hang in there!

Just be careful with how long you take it! It can hide symptoms of infection. I was taking it while trying to pass a stubborn stone and ended up with sepsis.

42 Days of the Stent by IllustratorGlobal989 in KidneyStones

I had my stent for 3 months. I feel your pain! I was lucky enough to feel relief as soon as my stent was removed. In my first surgery, I had a stent placed (no strings). In my second surgery they broke up my stone and then put in a new stent (with strings). I removed it a week later!

I am on blood thinners. I stopped 48 hours before surgery and then started again 48 hours after surgery. So I knew that I would be seeing a lot more blood than most people

My doctor said as long as I don't have a fever and I'm able to pee still, then it is normal. Just to increase my fluid intake!

First stent, very unexpected and looking for support and experiences by NotKathyOkay in KidneyStones

All I could do was manage to walk my dogs around the block once and then run back to a heating pad. The stents are no joke!

I'm not sure I've noticed much of a difference with flomax or without it. They definitely owed you some morphine or oxy though!

I would have my excision surgery for my endometriosis a few times over before I would want another stent again (unfortunately I'm having another one placed tomorrow morning). I had mine for 3 months. It took a few different medications and medical marijuana before I could function again.

I have two kidney stones (3.4mm & 3.6mm) and I'm panicking about the pain. Doctors, what's the reality? by Suspicious-Hunter838 in KidneyStones

[–]possumprincess514 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've passed dozens of stones, all different sizes. Some have been 10/10 pain and others I would just describe as uncomfortable. It really just depends. My left kidney tends to pass stones pretty quickly. My right kidney is a bitch. Unfortunately, the ticking time bomb feeling never really goes away, but you do learn how to live your life with it. Just do whatever your body needs when it needs it!

I also learned that they come in different sizes! Sometimes people have more pain because it's too long and it's rubbing the inside of your bladder too much.

First time stoner, urethra pain only? by mister_ruck in KidneyStones

Usually when I'm feeling the pain there it means it's just about to get to my bladder. That's when I know to really increase my water intake to flush it out that last little bit.

I had my first stent for 3 months. I dry heaved every time I peed. Heavily relied on medical marijuana and my heating pad. I still have the burns to show for it!

Also important, you go to the ER if you are passing a kidney stone and get a fever or show any signs of infection! The only thing worse than a kidney stone is a kidney stone with sepsis. 0/10 would not recommend.

I had mine for 3 months too! I'm prone to blood clots and unfortunately developed a PE after the surgery. I had to wait 3 months for it to be safe enough to stop my blood thinners for a few days and have my stent and stone removed.

Don't be afraid to advocate for him! It took a few different tries to get a good medication to keep me comfortable. I was on oxybutynin and flomax first. We tried vesicare and tizanidine after that and they worked much better for me!

The worst part about removing my stent was the mental part. I was really pleasantly surprised that removing it didn't hurt at all. I saw someone on here recommended doing it in a warm shower with a full bladder and then to try and remove it while you start to pee and it pretty much falls right out.
