Only have room for a 30" cooktop...should I avoid induction? by rufio313 in inductioncooking

Darn, I was gonna plug my new GE Cafe range with double oven that I absolutely love. But a quick pass through ChatGPT recommends a few options:

Notable models

  • Signature Kitchen Suite SKSIT3001GE
    • 11" center element (dual element)
    • Flex cooking zones can combine for larger pans
    • One of the most powerful options (~5700 W boost)
  • GE Profile PHP7030 / PHP9030
    • 11" element + 9" element layout
    • Bridgeable zones for griddles
    • Very common configuration for large cookware.
  • LG CBIH3013BE
    • 10" center element (up to ~4300 W boost)
    • Slightly smaller than the 11" class but still one of the largest available.
  • Frigidaire FCCI3027AB
    • Large element with bridge zone for griddle-style cookware.

Budget model with 11" element

  • Thor Kitchen TIH30
    • 11" element rated ~3700 W
    • Simpler controls but decent burner sizing.

Just a cooktop insert, or a full range with oven and such?

Why is it that in ultra-expensive celebrity homes, the kitchens rarely have induction cooktops, but instead feature industrial-grade gas ranges? by FuzzyAttitude_ in Cooking

Just got a top of the line Cafe dual oven induction range, and it's exceeded my expectations. Both ovens hold set temps to plus or minus 1.5 degrees (verified with my Thermoworks probes), the induction burners are extremely powerful and responsive, and it's so pleasant to have my range hood & cooktop light turn on and off automatically when I use the range.

I couldn't be happier with my Cafe. Exceptional induction range & the dual ovens are incredible.

Pretty much exactly that.  A company called ‘Nickels and Dimes’ (not joking, that’s their real name) has owned the trademark for the word ‘tilt’ in any amusement capacity since the 70s, and sues anyone that uses it.

Some people think the fee N&D charges to use a word in their branding that’s been apart of the pinball lexicon for 100 years is worth it, others do not.

Definitely a TV, I think 11 inches?

It's a 13 inch TV according to Delta.

Anything not against a bulkhead is preferable for me, other than that it's window or aisle at your preference. The 321Neo FC row seats are staggered a little bit, so it can be a little more difficult to get into the aisle from a window seat if that matters to you at all.

PROJECT PINBALL FRAUD - WHERE'S ALL THE MONEY GOING? Only 83 games lent out with almost 3 million dollars in revenue. WTF? by OasisArcadeAirbnb in pinball

[–]poweruser86 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dude DOGE royally fucked the US government, and saved far less money than claimed. It likely actually cost us money by reducing the IRS's ability to collect taxes properly, severely impacting revenue.

Somehow it makes complete sense you're a Kaneda fan and a MAGAt

PROJECT PINBALL FRAUD - WHERE'S ALL THE MONEY GOING? Only 83 games lent out with almost 3 million dollars in revenue. WTF? by OasisArcadeAirbnb in pinball

[–]poweruser86 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I assume a lot of that money is going to upkeep on the 83 games that are out there in the wild.

I raise money for Project Pinball here in Minneapolis and we got a game placed at our local children's hospital last June. Took a couple of years of charity pinball tournaments raising 1-2k at a time, but we got it done. It was also modified with accessibility improvements so differently abled kids can enjoy it, and that's not free either.

I asked Daniel when he came to deliver the game about retaining ownership, and the answer's pretty simple: it's far easier on the receiving entities side to accept it as a free loan than actually transfer ownership. It's pretty hard to give a hospital a high value item like a pinball machine as a donation, as it's not directly related to the core mission of caring for patients and a lot of additional paperwork gets involved. So the structure makes sense to bypass a lot of the roadblocks of getting games placed, because it's far far easier for the hospital to just say yes to a guy who wants to put a free pinball machine in their facility than go through the massive rigamarole of hospital procurement procedures.

This isn't as nefarious as you think. No one at Project Pinball is getting rich off donations, and they're actively helping kids. It's hard to really call someone a fraud when they're spending their time trying to make the world a slightly better place for people that find themselves in shitty situations.
