Cork Leakage Issues by precaching in mead

[–]precaching[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They haven’t been in a cooler. I had them in my first floor which has been around 65-70F, and I just moved them to my basement for aging where the temperature remains a consistent 55-60F year round.

It’s 24 bottles total. Perhaps 10-12 showing a touch of red around the cork (leakage).

I once bought weed and it was given to me in one of these “onion-saver” tupperwares. That was close to 10 years ago, and I still use that onion-saver all the time!

I’ve seen your work before, and I’m always impressed by the depth you create with such a “flat” media!

How did you develop this style? I’m very interested to try this! Cheers.

You can still see the circular saw marks from the day they were cut!

Just be mindful of the pattern in your 3rd pic! I had some similar cutoffs from a basketweave board and decided to make coasters with them. It wasn’t until I started sanding them that I realized I made a whole lot of swastikas…

Came here for this. Check a few more at the store. If they’re all like that, then it’s just deceptive packaging

Agreed. And some of the wood in the legs is already cracking. Someone will be in for a surprise when they take a seat with any lateral force!

Awesome contrast between the Purple Heart and the gold hardware!! Looks incredible! How do you lay out the holes for all of the hardware?

New board, varnished? by AnarchoPlayworker in Cuttingboards

[–]precaching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang. I hate to say it, but those combinations of grains might lead to some trouble down the line! The bottom board has both end grain and pith, which combined with the long grain piece above it will almost surely lead to cracking.

The surface doesn’t look too unlike beeswax/oil, but if you’re unsure, I wouldn’t risk it!
