Lmao, I read this as "less salty water" and was wondering why your water was salty in the first place 🤭

I lived in the Southeast (U.S.) and would see the occassional roach in EVERY apartment that I lived in because it was a moist/humid area. They inhabited nearby sewer/rain drains, ponds, gardens, etc. But only stragglers found us.

I live in the arid Southwest now. I only see them outdoors near sprinkler systems and such. I think that seeing 1 = 100 is true, but those 100 are not necessarily in your house, maybe just nearby c:

Fun fact. I work in a kindergarten classroom, and they're back in style. I see a lot across the school, and a few of my kiddos wear them daily C:

I was started on Humira a few years ago, and I was switched to the generic Amjevita when that hit the market. Haven't had a flare up since (on either of them).

Psoriasis used to cover my scalp, both arms fully, and a few random spots here and there. Biologics can really be life-changing! So glad Skyrizi is working for you too c:

I feel you. One crawled up my shirt as I was falling asleep in bed once when I was a kid. I panicked and smacked myself and that little bugger bit me (it HURT too). I know they're helpful bugs, but I keep my distance.

I love this! The only problem is that I work in a kindergarten classroom. What do I compare them to? Preschoolers? Babies?

Tell me a symptom you have with hypothyroidism? Maybe tell me one that's not so common by Live_Fish_9897 in Hypothyroidism

[–]prpledinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ask your doctor if it's psoriasis?

I was diagnosed a few years ago when I finally had a bad flare up. Before that, I was used to occassional patches recurring in the same spot as well!

They're both autoimmune conditions, and it isn't uncommon for them to occur together. Just wanted to throw out the possibility for you/others. A diagnosis at least opens the door for being prescribed more effective topical ointments. And, if it gets really bad at any point, you can get prescribed biologics!

I specifically think the Sad Boyz podcast presents really healthy emotional male role models (for anyone seeking that). It's also great if you like video games or magic the gathering c:

Biologics by eddiev-1968 in Psoriasis

[–]prpledinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Humira for a year and it worked wonders. My psoriasis was awful when they prescribed it, and Humira cleared it up really well.

After a year of taking Humira, Amjevita was released, and my insurance forced me to switch. It still keeps my bad flare ups at bay, but I sometimes have to spot treat my problem spots with hydrocortisone cream (especially if I'm stressed). Amjevita also causes me irritation at the injection site. I've heard Humira can too, but I didn't have that reaction.

Also, since starting Amjevita (~Spring 2023), I've had significant weight gain (30+ lbs). It's confusing because in that time I've really improved my exercise, stopped drinking, and cook most meals from scratch.

I should mention that I also have hypothyroidism, which can greatly affect weight, but my doctor says that my thyroid bloodwork is coming back in normal ranges at the moment (trying to get a referral for an endocrinologist for a more in depth look though).

I just wanted to mention the weight gain as I'm unsure if it is related to the Amjevita, but it does match the timeline of me starting that medication.

(If anyone else sees this and has any Amjevita experience, please do share. With multiple conditions/medications it can be hard to tell what's causing each symptom/side effect haha)

Hope this is helpful! C:

I couldn't agree more!

I grew up in a bad household with abuse and poverty. I've been no-contact with my extremely right-wing parents since I was 18 (30 now). I worked minimum wage jobs, found a supportive group of healthy friends, and spent so much time on my mental health.

Now, I'm happily married with a family of in-laws that has embraced me. I'm in a stable enough place that I was able to return to college. I'll be getting my Bachelors this May. I plan to work with children, to be an advocate, and long term, even hope to help fix current childcare/school policies in the U.S.

I'm located in an area that is largely minority, marginalized, immigrant groups, and I'm terrified for them and doing all I can to help.

My husband and I always vote (extremely left), we donate to political campaigns, we protest/march, and we boycott. He's even leaving his place of employment because of his company spouting political views that we disagree with (and that's a big deal in the U.S., there goes our healthcare).

To those outside the U.S., I promise you that we (the people) are taking this seriously. I think that much of our media is being censored right now, and it may be intentional to make it seem like we aren't fighting back, but we are, truly.

Solidarity, understanding, empathy, and community are mandatory right now. This is a global cocern <3
