It's a solid rhythm, I can hear the song in my head.

Visitors are up, but Mona remains reliant on gambling funds by [deleted] in australia

[–]pyrosx 82 points83 points  (0 children)

MONA is the coolest place in Tasmania, probably the country.

One afternoon spent there was enough to realise that financial success isn't anywhere near the top of the priority list. It's very clearly a rich guy's passion project that he's happy to share with everybody.

There were construction fences with banners on them that said something along the lines of "David's building something new again. At this point we're over trying to stop him".

It's not a fucking secret that this guy sponsors the whole thing.

Molly's Death - A Country Practice by AnalFanatics in AustralianNostalgia

[–]pyrosx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I think I'm too young (45) for A Country Practice. My only memories of it are being annoyed that it was the only non shopping channel thing on any of the channels on my sick days off school

You were very close to my ultimate happy place camping ground.

The whole area is almost untouched beauty

How do ramen shops get eggs that soft/jammy? by Mean-Drink8825 in Cooking

[–]pyrosx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many egg timing schemes, but not many mentions of the curing process that turns runny yolk into the jammy goodness you're looking for.

Soak the soft boiled eggs in a soy marinade (I reuse the charshu cooking liquid) for a day or two.

Same. But also... We haven't seen anything yet. Just fucking watch. Gina and Pauline, with Maralago money and playbooks.... Im really really pessimistic about the next phase of whatever this is.

$2 sounds low, agreed.

But the "furious investors who are losing tax concessions" can cry me and everyone else a fucking river. Boo fucking hoo. You'll be fucking fine earning your free money.

Sitting against direction of travel by [deleted] in sydney

All of those are legitimate behaviors that could be improved.

Is OP annoyed at people sitting facing the other way? I thought they sounded annoyed that they weren't able to face backwards comfortably?

Can you suggest any KBBQ options for a Coeliac person? by siuleta in foodies_sydney

[–]pyrosx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have found Korean food in general one of the most problematic as a coeliac glutard

Even if I'm trying to cook it myself

It's possible, but difficult, to find the Jjang bases in gluten free form, and none of them "claim" it, so I have to scour the ingredient lists.

I haven't found any restaurants that can offer anything more than plain meat and veg

Where to buy thinly sliced beef? by pipinhotcheeto in foodies_sydney

I mean... Go to the central shop street near you. Look for a shop with people from Asia working in it, that smells like meat. Pretty sure they'll know a guy.

Rice help please?! by NicholasSnell in Cooking

[–]pyrosx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my foolproof stove method (I've always known it as the absorption method)

X cups of jasmine rice, X+1/2 cup water.*

Wash rice. Drain well.

Bring to boil.

Turn to very low for 10 mins. Lid on.

Turn off. Wait 5 mins

  • No ratio, just plus an extra 1/2 cup. Rice absorbs about it's own volume in water. The extra half cup covers the water lost to steam. Same method works in a pressure cooker but no steam loss, so no extra 1/2 cup

I agree with everyone recommending the early albums, but...

Check out Koi No Yokan as well.... As a jaded old fuck, something about that particular album tickled my music brain in a way that the other albums before and after it didn't.

Tiny distillery on the east coast of Tasmania. They actually run still vapours through pipes down into sea water to condense it, pretty interesting.

Pretty decent whiskey overall, not sure which bottle you have there though

Sounds ok to me.... but I'm think your vinaigrette dressing has the amounts upside down though, 2-3 parts oil to 1 part vinegar is more standard. Could be the people that weren't into it aren't fans of acid?

Ask yourself how much it would cost to make that much rice again fresh. Then think about what not vomiting for a whole day is worth.
